Re: What's Your Favourite Fish Book?
Favourite aquarium Book. Hard to pick a particular book. If I had to pick one or two it would be the Cichlid Atlas set. Much to Jodi’s despair I have shelves of them. Lots of general and specialist books, eg like the ones that are at the shop for people to look at. The big trick is to remember which book I read a particular piece of info in. I’m of the opinion that if a book has NEW info and reference pics then it is worth getting, so many books are just rehashes of old pics and even older info.

Re: What's Your Favourite Fish Book?
My next book purchased will have to be The New Illustrated Guide To Fish Diseases by Gerald Bassleer. It's about $100 and the best book you could ever have.
The (fish) drugs that it refers to are mostly vet perscibed but i highly recommend it.

Re: What's Your Favourite Fish Book?
My Fav would have to be Tanganyika Cichlids in their natural habitiat by Ad Konings Was an expensive book but well worth it for the info. Would love to get a hold of South American Eartheaters if there is in fact a second edition coming out. That fish disease book sounds really useful Stace. This thread would be a useful tool for anyone wanting to get literature an the particular fish they keep.

Re: What's Your Favourite Fish Book?
Every fish keeper should have a book on Fish diseases. I am amazed at how many people keep a large amount of fish without such a guide, considering that they cost less than one of the fish they have. We have a few second hand copies of the Manual of fish Health for sale at the shop. Great pics and info. I've found them great for checking to make sure you have your diagnosis right. (Shameless plug) I've also been looking through my copy of Loricariidea: tricks of the trade by Larry Vires. Not keeping these fish myself I've never really looked too deeply into this group. Reading this I'd be of the opinion that they are a very complex genus and those looking to invest in them should do a good amount of research on diets and water qualities before buying them. Their diets can vary greatly between species. Knowing this will help a lot when mixing species in a community tank.

Re: What's Your Favourite Fish Book?
Well, I have a pretty good range of books. Don't tell basics but, shhhhhhhhh. These range from the basics & general to more advanced. I used to like going to the library & reading the old fish books too. My how they kept things simple & blow me down, they worked too. I do have the The New Illustrated Guide To Fish Diseases by Gerald Bassleer Great book. Brad had this one in his shop, excellent book. Got him to buy me in one. Well worth it. As of my fondness to cichlids... the best one on those that covers the differents regions, articles on feeding, water, co inhabitants. Enjoying Cichlids by Ad Konings {editor}For those that want to get advanced, my faviourite book. Very well written. The Cichlid Fishes Nature's Grand Experiment in Evolution by George W. BarlowI will mention.... Online wise, http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/ very useful for Cichlid keepers. & for the internet searchers. When you get stuck Google Scholar can sometimes find the better answer. Used to love it when gf of the time was at uni, nurse. I used to read up on research papers, essays etc. Pity I didn't use the printer more often. I do think this topic should be a sticky. Some good books have been suggested & people should really have access to a good one or 2. Frenchy
