 egg tumbler use
Just bought a tumbler from jgarner447, great design, anyway, i am just wondering how many eggs I can put in here. I have 20 lombardoi eggs with tails in there at the moment and have just discovered that my blue zeb is holding too. Looks like about 20 or so eggs as well. Would these be right in the same tumbler as the first lot are only just starting to change into fish. Also how much water movement should there be in the tumbler? shold they be constantly tumbling or just moving every so often. Thanks.

 Re: egg tumbler use
It does pay to have more than one tumbler for just in case purposes.
You should not have a problem with both in the tumbler.
The ones I have suggest to have it so the eggs free float with out touching the top or the bottom.

I had it like that but it looked a bit rough... don't want to hurt the little babies

 Re: egg tumbler use
were your eggs continuously suspended or were they on the bottom gently lifting? Thanks

 Re: egg tumbler use
On the bottom gently lifting is the best way to go, if you have too much current running through the tumbler the eggs can get stuck to the fly screen at the top of the tumbler and get fungus.

 Re: egg tumbler use
A few drops of Methyline Blue helps with fungus issues, put the drops under the bottom of the tumbler and it will draw it through

 Re: egg tumbler use
I think the larger the bubbles from airstone are better, as little bubbles can attach to the eggs and possibly damage them.
