Fish ID? Looks like a Panther Grouper but is in Fresh water

I seen a fish today that looks like a Panther Grouper (which I believe lives in Salt Water) but is in Fresh water. Anyone know what it could be?

    where did you see it?
looked like as in shape? maybe calvus
or as in spots? maybe reverse dubosi

    prob a tang cichlid anyway
    what size?
Louie: "Hey, I thought you said Troy McClure was dead?"
Tony: "No, what I said was: 'He sleeps with the fishes'."

A little nonsense, now and then is cherished by the wisest men.

Iíve made controversial comments, but did I ever say anything that was wrong?

Interesting, it is a Barramundi Rock Cod (Cromileptes altivelis) a protected (no take) species in Queensland.
See these in "freshwater" tanks overseas, not likely to survive to adulthood in freshwater IMHO

Barramundi cod are being farmed and are available for around the $40 kg mark.
It is illegal to keep wild caught specimens but hatchery bred and you can have them in your possession.

i kept 2 barra cod that were farm bred in around bowen, nth qld, i'm sure thats not one, the colour is all wrong and i'm guessing not exactly the right shape, and yes, wild caught are illegal, but farm bred are legal, but i guess it could be a one off colour, not sure if they can live in fresh water

All groupers of this genus are allowed to be imported so they could well be from overseas.
These Barramundi cod are bred in the tons throughout Asia for table fish and the aquarium industry.

Have you asked anyone in the shop what it is or do they not know either? How about a pic?

Dude have a look at the name of the Thread "Fish ID? Looks like a Panther Grouper but is in Fresh water"

The fish in the above is what I seen.

The pic on the first page is what I thought I had seen. Which IS a Barramundi Cod aka Panther Grouper

But the fish I was looking for is the leopard bush fish or some people also call them a African Leaf Fish
