  1. What about the loaches and discus I have? It's also on my Anubis a bit as well
  2. Thanks for all the advice and help
  3. Yeah that is a nice looking set up
  4. Also the loaches kept picking at my plants mainy the swords, they seem to have stopped. Was it just me not feeding enough?
  5. I seen some neon blue Rams and thought they looked really nice. Yeah with Africans I wasn't as worried about exact amount of salt.
  6. Yeah I mean 2-3 more a total of 5 would be happy with. Water temp is set at 27. I will try some of those tips for feeding is Thera A ok as a discus food? They kinda eat bits of the bio gold discus. I have proper ph 7.0 but it says not to use in planted aquarium. Won't be getting Rams missus says "they look like goldfish on crack" I don't mind them though. Yeah they just clown loaches
  7. Moved this from General discussion. Hey all so I have changed my 4x2x2 to a discus tank with some basic plants. Just had a few questions and any extra advice is welcome. diet- they currently seem fussy and only like to eat frozen bloodworms, have tried Thera+a and discus bio gold. Can they only be fed bloodworms or is that a bad diet, the clown loaches eat all of it I have 2 juvies so far and 8 loaches would like another 2 maybe 3 If that's ok in 4x2 and not sure what else thinking tetras can I add Rams? I have the ph and hardness more for community but jut seeing how things settle with the extra driftwood I added. I remember reading somewhere aquarium salt shouldn't be added with loaches but not 100%. Ph is around 7.4 and kh is 89.5 / 5 drops Thanks

  9. ^^^ boom. I wouldn't go that far but it is a valid point. Because pb can buy fish cheaper doesn't mean a lot if they sell them at the same price as other shops because there overheads would be massive compared to your lfs. Think about the stores, everything in them, staff plus all the office people behind the scene. Bigger places need bigger margins because of costs (most of the times). The local pb stock is quite small honestly maybe 10/12 small tanks poked in a corner. Dogs, cats, birds takes up most of the store.
  10. Not everyone tries to make money as long as they cover costs they are happy. "George" selling Africans out of his garage runs it all as cash, no overheads, wages, super insurance, tax so sells his fish at $6. The lfs is double that because the have additional costs. Pet barn competes with the same issues but always sell a larger variety of items as not to limit themselves to a niche market. There is also shops that only focus on dry goods which affect lfs because again no tanks, fish, food so lower costs which makes them better prices to buy from. Just saying naive to blame everything on petbarn, I have been to one once and found them to be expensive so you can't say they are undercutting the competition n
  11. Slight rephrase just using forum as example there is Facebook, gumtree and other places selling privately that affect demand.
  12. Please, what about the amount of people on this here forum that buy and sell and cut out the need for lfs. Bit rich to put all the blame on pet barn if you have good prices good fish and good service you shouldn't have a problem with keeping customers coming back. Mostly service/quality is important for me personally
