  1. Thanks for this. Funnily enough I have seen a number of your Life in videos before but hadn't seen your website. Appreciate all the information.
  2. Thanks for this it is a great list of natives I hadn't considered. In regards to the honey blue eyes and rhads whilst I would love to help increase the populations I would be worried that I would make a mistake and cause a reduction in their population. Unless they are fairly hardy and easy to breed I might leave it to the experts to manage. My plan has always been to under stock with just one species to ensure no cross breeding and to give plenty of room for schooling. Also I like having species specific tanks and plan to do the same in this pond (and the next and then the next after that). Yes top is being capped this weekend (hopefully if I get time) and the liner has been trimmed properly since the photo. You can't see it but there is an overflow cutout on the side with the lilly however I haven't put in anything to strain the water yet. Filtration is a mix of plant life and a small solar setup I am just waiting on some parts for.
  3. That's great thanks for that. I will have a look around to pick some up. Cheers

  5. I pulled together a bit of a rough pond this afternoon from an old planter box and some pond liner. I still have to put on some edging and do a general tidy up but I am pretty happy with it for now. Substrate is some natural cleaned soil and propagating sand with a few aquarium rocks as well. Plant life is a water lily from my bucket pond and some other aquarium plants I had lying around (crypt, val, banana lilly and something else I forget the name for). Volume is around 460 litres. I am now looking for stocking recommendations preferably native, local and comfortable with Brisbane winter. Anyone who can point me in the right direction gets my gratitude.

Thanks for that Peter. I did look on the calendar but it wasn't showing anything for 2017.

    ANGFA Meetings 2016

Does anyone know if the dates for 2017 have been set yet?
  8. I'm looking to head down there tonight for my first meeting. Is there anything I should be aware of before I attend?
  9. Yeah I was quite amazed when I saw one in my LFS the other day. Couldn't stop thinking about it so bit the bullet and decided to order it. Really looking forward to getting it home and setting it up.
  10. Well after lurking for the past few days I thought should introduce myself to the forum and post in the welcome room. I have kept aquariums for years however with my work moving all over this planet of ours it has been difficult to keep them long term. Always seems like I am just setting them up when I have to move again. This time however it is different I have been moved to Brisbane where I have bought a house so this time it will be a lot more difficult if work decide to move me on. Whilst I was living in Adelaide for a number of years I was a member of the South Australian Aquarium Society and an offshoot of that the South Australian Fish Breeders. Both of these groups were a fantastic fount of information and I am hoping to join a similar group here, so if anyone can recommend one to me it would be greatly appreciated. Finally onto tanks and associated fish. Currently I have a resident Betta Splendens who resides in a nano tank with some nano anubis. A 2 foot tank which is currently empty but will shortly be set up, I am thinking natives. A Fluval Ebi 30x30x40 which is currently empty, no idea at this stage And last but not least an aqua one mini reef 90 which is on order and should be with me in September.
