Lighting Advice For Planted Tank
mylifeasben replied to mylifeasben's topic in General Aquarium Discussion
Yeah, I’ve been using the up aqua and a dalua ss freshwater and will be ordering a MML this week. The par and ease of only needing one light is a bonus -
Hey guys I have a 3 foot dalua light just sat on the glass. But I’m looking at hanging it about 20-30 cm above the top of the tank. What’s the best way to hang it? Is there a kit that mounts to the side of the tank or cabinet, or from the roof? Thanks!

Lighting Advice For Planted Tank

I’ve ordered a 3 foot Chihiros A series and a 3 foot Up Aqua U series and will see how I go. They were cheap enough that if I’m not impressed with them, I can sell them and buy a MML. But for the price and ease of use, these two seemed good and should provide good lighting and a nice spectrum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I suppose in a way that’s not too bad if you’re saving money on a heater by heating it with the light [emoji23] I’ve just looked and the Chihiros RGB only comes up to 60cm and I need a 90cm.. not sure which way to go now [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Thanks for that input mate! That’s really helpful! Might give the A series a miss and look at the RGB - is the overheating a big issue? Of more an inconvenience? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Whilst I’d love to use a pair of the A160’s at $415 each the budget just isn’t there. I’d considered the Fluval Plant and Fresh but there were a lot of reviews saying they couldn’t be run off a standard timer? The lights from Tech Den at $105 each with light output of 6500k may be the way to go then for me with my budget [emoji1303] -

Hi all, I'm in the process of setting up a medium to high tech planted aquarium. I've got the tank and co2 system sorted, but I need some help and advice on lighting! The tank is 90cm long. but only around 30cm max between lights and substrate. So far I'm thinking these: https://www.thetechden.com.au/Pet_Worx_90cm_LED_Light_6500k_36w_p/ba11.htm x 2 http://www.hinterfeld.com.au/store/p71/Chihiros_Aquatic_A-Series_Aquarium_High_Output_LED_Lamp_55W_Plant_Light_90cm_A901.html x 2 or 1 x http://www.aquaholicsonline.com.au/nemo-light-aqua-fresh-controllable-clip-on-aquarium-led-light-54w-3ft-4ft-aquariums.html I've currently got a Nemo on my 4foot but can't gauge if its helping the plants as its very lightly planted, quite deep, no co2 and the Bristlenoses eat the plants as soon as they grow at all. Any other options and advice would be great!! Thanks!
