  1. agree completely with you martib ... freight sucks, as well as putting complete faith in purchasing fish sight unseen
  2. Bull**** ... we're getting down to 14 C overnight ATM ... jumpers & trackies weather lol

  4. NEW WIRELESS BATH ALARM BATHROOM SPA TUB SECURITY SYSTEM | eBay Ex used this. From what I recall it was loud enough. He just taped a hanger out of wire (got rid of suction cup) that hung over side of tank at right height. Saved me flooding fish room and shop many times (I get easily distracted too)
  5. that is freakin awesome .... wonder if my hubby would let me do the same thing. painting the wall would be sooo much easier than painting the tank (for me anyway) lol i can imagine the tank set up, some feature lighting and a few white background fishy pictures hung above the tank to break the black up, would look awesome and be such a different talking point in the house good luck with the wife's opinion

  7. yep, Aquarium World, Mulgrave Rd is about the only decent one but his prices are sky high. The rest Cairns has to offer is pretty basic/boring.
  8. if you're looking to buy you'll find huge range at the store on Anderson St Manunda (i think his business name is Exotic Discus) or Helmut in Edmonton/Gordonvale (he operates out of his house and apparently has a huge past in Discus also)
  9. The new piece of driftwood I picked up last weekend is a floater I've asked the people I got it from what kind of timber it is but haven't heard back as yet. Any tips or ideas of how long it will take to sink, if it'll sink at all? It is a very solid piece of timber & quite heavy

  11. Yep, giving it a good soak this week (well the best I can since I don't have anything large enough to submerge the entire piece) and I've given it a good scrub & removed all loose bark. I'm not sure what type of timber it is exactly & I agree ... I really hope it sinks too (though it is pretty heavy)
  12. Hey all, Just wanted to share the wood I picked up for my 4x2 tank today. Fingers crossed it fits OK.
  13. This questions probably been asked a million times before but .... I'm going to set up a 2ft x 2ft cube for my little pair of multifas. I just want to know who'll live happily with them. Unfortunately I'll have to stick to reasonably common fish as our 'selection' up here if quite limited. I was thinking brichardi, leilupi along those lines. Will other shellies live OK with them (if there is plenty of shells/hidey holes). Breeding is not the purpose of the set-up, just for looks & enjoyment. However if breeding occurs I won't discourage. Any suggestions gratefully appreciated

  15. OK, I'll go with this .... I don't like Africans (especially Malawi), I can tolerate some shell dweller Tangyanikans. I can't help much with interesting catfish as ..... I'm not a huge fan of Bristlenose type catties either ... Corydoras are my fav Unfortunately all the "sheep" will probably follow on with "I don't like goldfish" ....*yawn*
