  1. In terms of quality, Certainly Laguna, or Fluval for pumps. As for flow, this is really determined by your method of draining. Will these 2x 5ft tanks have holes drilled at the water level in the back, will you use an overflow box, or will you have a weir with a siphon method used?
  2. Omg that would have been so funny him as a prison guard, most mellow guy ever! Mark left atlas and went straight to Cunninghams marine, once they closed he moved to Northside marine where you will find him now in the chandlery as the manager. He still keeps African cichlids... but his passion is now boating. I think you may have meant someone else... although.. Tom works in DJ music equipment and steven is the manager of Storage world in the valley. So not really sure who left Atlas and became a Prison guard! i certainly wont!

  6. hi guys, looking to plum my shed roof into a large water tank for extra water changes. my shed is made of tin (bare looking colourbond) just wondering if anyone has used this sort of catchment bare and had sucess, i was expecting to prob have to use some prime or alpha to remove heavy metals. secondly would painting this fix the problem? any advice is appreciated thanks
  7. hey guys, currently have a few colonies of frontosa which should be approching breeding age (WC moba, Kigoma, Burundi) and want to start conditioning them with fresh food, have currently fed sardines peices, live yabbes and small crayfish, just wondering what other foods people have had sucess with, im not after anybodies trade secrets but just some clarification on foods that do and dont work. i was thinking of, fresh green prawns, squid (prob small thin strips), and fish flesh (from deepsea fish). thanks

  13. sea water doesnt go off what so ever, provided of course you have it stored out of direct sunlight and have a breatheable lid on it.
  14. yeah i actually had a visit from the owner of bay fish the other week, turns out they started by just breeding americans and snowballed from there.. im pretty sure they still have massive ponds etc but not exactly sure what for. i read something a while ago about pisces expanding their fish, but do they onsell to bay? coz ive nevr bought fish from them.
  15. i was thinking more along the lines of all the wholesalers that already exsist setting up a few extra tanks to breed themselves. sure it might take a lil more effort and a touch more in wages but could in turn also provide another job or too. As for the different bloodlines, i think we would do ok, considering its probably been a long time since a new bloodline of electric yellows etc have been smuggled in and we can still provide excellent quality. having said that there is no reason not to bring in an order once in a while to mix up the blood. im more refering to week in week out.
