1. Pool filter sand from a pool shop, looks great
2. Just swap over to the new media gradually over a few weeks
3. I've got a flowerhorn in a 4x2x3 by himself, definitely recommend full of personality and great colour, you'll be looking around $300-$400 for a good quality one though. This is my boy he's still only 15cm so plenty of growing to do yet.
4. Very nice, i didn't know we could get piranhas in Aus that's awesome
5. Those fish look terrible. I don't see why people want to mix African species. There's pretty much any colour you want in an original species anyway that look a lot better. It's worse with Americans, like these stupid moo cow fens and mixing different Americans. I have a flowerhorn and I love it but I'd never go mixing it with any pure Americans like some people do. Very difficult to get a pure Synsipillum lately with nice colour aswell(if anyone has nice pure syns near goldcoast let me know
6. If you feel confident enough I'd go with a sump filter, but yea the fx5/6 should be ok with an internal filter aswell. I've got a fx5 and 6 both work perfectly on there tanks(6x2x2,4x3x2) always crystal clear water. Heard some good reviews on the aqua one 2700 for a bit cheaper although never tried it myself
7. Think they shoulda named it 506 tho haha sounds like an older version of fx5 n 6 lol
8. Just looks like a smaller version of fx6 to fit in between 406 and fx6
9. I've got a 406 on my 4x2x1.5 with an 2000lph otto internal and tank is always spotless same with my 6x2x2 got an fx6 and otto internal on that and just an fx5 on my 4x3x2. I won't use any other brand then Fluval tbh I've had a good run with them
10. Quick question Donny@ageofaquariums if I buy a UV sterilizer for the tank will it get rid of the algae for good?
11. I got one in my 6ft with small and big Americans, had him for over a year now and he's getting fat and healthy as, he's actually my favourite fish in there
12. Alright awesome, I've never really seen anyone say they feed there fish bio gold just gold that's pretty much why I was wondering haha
13. Alright sweet I'll have to get some. Lucky enough the hose is nice and close to the tanks so I'm sweet doing water changes with some help from the wife so that's no worries. Cheers again bud
14. At the moment I'm feeding both of these pellets to my 6ft American tank. Was just wondering what the big difference is between the 2 or just the price tag. Is it worth paying little extra for the bio gold or just stick with regular gold? Cheers
15. Ok yep, to be honest I don't really mind the look of it haha but missus recons it looks dirty. It's been going for a couple of weeks now, when I had red zebras in the tank it wasn't a problem because they would always eat it all but they didn't die. Do you know of a product I could buy to get rid of it? I've got a broken leg at the moment so it's a bit difficult to even clean the tanks at the moment so if I could buy something that was easy would be a lot better for me. Thanks for the help matei appreciate it!
16. Ok cheers mate, I've got this Aqua one stuff to get rid of algae but will it work or will I need to buy the red slime stuff? Thanks
17. Not sure if the photo has come up...
18. There it is, more like a maroon colour. Think it would be ok to out a bn in there to eat it? Or is it toxic?
19. It's a dark red furry algae, I have my light on a fair bit sonic guessing that's why it's growing a lot, but I'll take a photo when I get home today so you can tell me exactly which one it is Thankyou!
20. Is red algae fine for bristlenose to eat? Coz it's covered my rocks in my African tank, was thinking about putting a female bn in there. Cheers
21. I know this is an old thread but... Just had a guy message me wanting to buy my big jag and Texas, wants to put them with his small Saratoga Oscar and frontosa... I just gave him some advice saying more then likely the fronny will get killed. I don't understand why someone would even want to try put all those fish together. Didn't take my advice and just asked how much a small jag would be at a shop.. This guy is from one of the Facebook pages I'm on and it's a very popular one and it seems many people think like this guy. cant understand it
