  2. hey mate, Check out The Reefuge - Marine Aquarium, Australian Reef Forums, Saltwater or look up "Queensland Marine Fish Keeping" on facebook they are a marine only group both of those aswell as MASA are great for info. HTH

  8. ^^As above im am no expert but i did simular just last night, I set my new tank up added fresh tap water, then just chucked in a aged sponge filter, Im just going to leave it for a few days and the put my fish in, Like i said not sure if this is the correct way but it the way i have always done it and never had a problem with my fish
  9. Hey guys and girls, I have a few Jack Dempseys (about 20 lol) most are still juvies but I was wondering how do you determine the sex of a JD? And also how big do they have to be until you can tell? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks guys, Jamie
  10. Yer the EBJD female is smaller then the spilt, they seemed to be going ok, i just noticed them a bit funny when i got home from tafe today. He didn't show me fry but he said they had breed before :/

Ok so i got this pair of JD'S the other night, the female is a EBJD and the male is split gene, i have them in a 3 ft tank with a few hiding places.The female is just sitting near the top of the water, the male seems to be trying to breed with her but she doens't seem to be interested, i guess my question is, is this normal or will he kill her or whats the go? Any help would be much appreciated as this is my 1st time trying to getting fish to breed haha i no not the best fish for me to start breeding but these fish are amazing. Thanks

  14. I also have had this problem and did as "VEGASMICK" said and it came down to my internal filter, I have no idea how long it had been like that and never noticed a difference in my fish's behavior so can't be to bad but still removed filter to be safe
  15. I have 6 bristlenose in my 4ft african tank 1x male at about 10cm and 5 others at 5cm. just my 2 cents

  17. hahaha. i only have 6 lol but 3 of them will be for breeding, im going to chuck some BN in 1 tank, some JD'S in another and some electric yellows in the other once they get a bit bigger

  19. Thanks for the welcome guys. Since joining i have bought 3 more tanks and heaps of other stuff. I have met quite a few people now, all of which have been more then willing to help with advice, knowledge and all silly questions etc A big thanks has to go to greg (GROTTY1) and Gavin (brwndoggy25) who have been the most helpful with the advice, knowledge and willing to have a chat, Thanks guys. Well i look forward to meeting more of you in the near future
