  2. ive used aquagreens stuff & plan on continuing to. Id prefer to support local small business if it does the same job
  3. well i use API stress coat+ & do the double dosage that is for the slime coat etc...ill obviously keep using water conditioner. If I had the space I'd keep a couple of large water drums to condition & temp my water up before i put it in my tank but alas...
  4. aeration over night in a lidless drum evaporated the chlorine, according to him...
  5. I met a guy who used NO CHEMICALS OF ANY KIND in his water - & yes that also includes water conditioner, & he has large & what seems to be healthy fish. For "conditioning" he simply filled up a drum of tap water & aerated it over night. His reasoning is that in the wild no conditioning chemicals were added & I like this thinking. I know there are MANY more factor that go into the proper wild water conditioning, but maybe this is a case of "less is more"? I also knew a guy who (& i witnessed this 1st hand!!) washed his powerhead filter sponges with morning fresh dishwashing liquid & put it straight back in!!! He had large africans & says he's been doing it that way for years... :/
  6. found this on another forum - not sure exactly how accurate it is but still interesting.... Buyer BeAware: SeaChem Excel

  10. well my main fish are 4 x large snake skin gouramis. Ive had them for over 3yrs now & they're all well past 10cms. They all seem happy & I've got plenty of filtration. As i said, when i do a water change all i use is API Stress Coat+ (10ml p/38L for slime coat as well), & sea salt. I used to use API stress Zyme for bacteria replacement but I havent used it for a couple of months & as I said, my levels are good & my fish are happy & healthy (or at least appear to be)... I also have 2 x large angels (koi & golden marble), 3 x siamese flying foxes, & a sail fin pleco. Just wondering if there really is a point to adding more stuff to the water?
  11. so when ever i do a water change all i add to the water now days is water conditioner & a teaspoon of salt for every 10L. My fish seem to be doing well & my levels always seem to be fine. Does anyone see an advantage to use conditioning salts for tropical tanks? If so why? & what product do you use? cheers
  12. has anyone called him? i think it would be a laugh to call him & take the piss out of him
  13. well im new to the world of plecos so forgive me if i posted something that might be common knowledge to others...
  14. thanx for that - but im looking for leopard sail fin plecos L83/L165's
