  1. Hey everyone, Haven't posted in a long time. Here's the scenario: I had to help a friend with an "aquarium emergency" a coupl'a weeks back. The 120 gallon tank(less than 2 years old) had a minor leak but he was leaving on a trip that afternoon & needed help with a total tear down & evacuation of the problem tank. Most fish brought to LFS for $$. I've been meaning to buy an aquarium for my basement but I have never resealed an aquarium before. I am an average DIYer and for the simple economics of it all I'm thinking of taking his aquarium & doing a reseal. Would this be a wise move? I'm in no rush to set it up so I'm thinkin' of giving it a go but the tank worries me! The fact that it's such a young tank and for it to just start leaking out of the blue I'm a little worried it's not a silicone issue but maybe a glass issue?! (if that makes sense) Meaning.. maybe the glass is not cut correctly or doesn't line up right.

  3. Been running the 2213 on my 174 litre tank for well over 10 years without filtration issues OR flowrate issues. Will be doing a new set-up and have a multitude of sump system questions! Here's a few of them: Is it possible to "over filtrate"? Like how big can I go with a sump system for a 450 litre tank? Considering a tank with these dimensions.. 122cm X 61cm X 61cm Is it basically the bigger I can fit under there the better? I don't want to take this post over so can someone show me where I can find answers for people setting up a sump system for the first time?
  4. Definitely suitable! My friend runs a 2215 for a 450 litre tank fully stocked with African cichlids. I run a 2213 on a 174 litre tank with no issues over the last decade and I keep African cichlids as well. Good luck!

  6. I can deal with cloudy but not with "mysterious fish losses". I've seen people avoid coarse substrates in fear of injuring the mouths of diggers. this kind'a looks coarse but also... I've never really been concerned about this last issue. Unless maybe I should.
  7. I'm very curious to see if anyone has used this in an African tank. Reason being I'm setting on a 120 gallon shortly and if this works(even with raising Ph) then I'd have to go this route. It would save me just under $100.
  8. There's not much I can add to this thread but I am looking at some gold head comps for my new set-up so I'll be checking this thread for some enlightenment. All that said I know that if I find the Muzi I'll be a happy camper.

  14. nice.. Thanks Big Pete! It's been over 6 hours now so I guess the situation is nul. I'll be storing the remaining filtration parts for future use I guess.
