  1. recently bought myself a 4 x 2 x 2 tank but stupidly thought that the light that came with a bulb would be fine. the thing is it is not doing a good job showing off my fish and you can only see their good colour in certain places in the tank. any suggestions for bulbs that will do a good job? i dont know much about the types of bulbs so in plain english please. thanks
  2. Hi all, Im new to this forum, my old light is rusted and worn out, power switch and all is dodgy, it was an old 610mm 24" single tube 20W, i had a hagen aquaglow 6500k tube in there and seemed to light up ok, not bright and seemed to keep some plants alive and growing. So ive been looking at this one http://www.guppysaquariumproducts.com.a ... d_262.html from reading other people suggestions it seems i should aim to 2 - 3 watts per gal, so this 3x24w will give me 2.88. What's the best kelvin tubes to aim for? Should i get say a pair of 6500k and a 10000k?

  6. I have a 4ft display tank with Pindani, Maingano, Aceii, Saulosi (all bluish in colour) and Electric Yellows, Saulosi Females, small Clown Loaches (orange/yellowish in colour). My question is - what particular brand / colour spectrum style fluro will enhance the colours of my fish more effectively - eg blue spectrum? general aquatic spectrum? other? Unfortunately I've only got a single fluro light so I cannot mix and match tubes. My rockwork is black basalt type ( not lava rock purchased from Raycam  ) and my substrate is white sand. Your lighting advice would be much appreciated. Regards Peter
