Hi guys, I'm just in the process of setting up a 450L aquarium and I got it all filled and planted today, and then thought I'd add the bio balls to my Pro Aqua canister filter, which I purchased off Guppies Aquarium Products online. http://www.guppysaquariumproducts.com.a ... d_311.html I shut the filter off and then (very, very stupidly) proceeded to open the clips and take the lid off. Well, I'm sure most experienced aquarium keepers can realise how this ended. Hilarious if it isn't happening to you. My girlfriend was laughing for ages. My housemate and I managed to press the lid and clip it back on whilst only losing 20 or 30 litres! Many towels later I realised I should perhaps do more research into finding out how to clean a canister filter. Although many helpful youtube videos give advice on filter media etc, no one states how you should stop a tsunami from forming when you want to open your canister filter lid! I realise this may seem stupid to many, but I'm beginning, so please humour me. The only way I think it would work is some very strong clamps on the inlet and outlet hoses of the filter, but wouldn't that crease the hose and lead to splits and leaks?
Hi all, Canister got really nosiy and started to leak> I changed the impellor which fixed the nosie but I cant stop the leak. Is this likely to be the o-ring seal. has anyone had a similar problem. Just have a single drip evey minute or so on one side.
