  1. Hey everyone. so my parents are looking after my brothers tank while he is away and have taken too much water out during a water change. So the Eheim 2213 has lost its syphon. I am about to go over there to look at it and was hoping someone could give me a quick fix for this as I am not familiar with this filter. Should I just empty the canister, put the intake hose in and suck on the outtake to get the water flowing into the cannister? Or is there another solution that is easier? Cheers for the help!
  2. Two months ago I cleaned my 2213 on my PNG tank and added some new bioballs from AOA. Last night I noticed that the flow had reduced to nothing. I stopped the filter and stripped it down,, was appalled to see that the bottom was blocked with biofilm, I have never seen so much of the stuff in any of my filters. Anyone have this issue from time to time ?

  8. Hey gang quick question, is there anyway to rejuvinate an aged O Ring ? Basically I am getting everything ready for my new used Juwel Lido 120 that I bought from Shrimplovers to keep Threadfin Rainbows. I dragged out my original Eheim 2213 that I bought in 1993, this thing is one of the ones that has Made in West Germany on it !!! and has no internal media cage , so kinda vintage!!! The O Ring appears to be past it, because I cannot slip the O-ring on and then close the filter up at all. I would like to get this thing tested and running tonight. If I have to buy a new O -Ring so be it, but I was wondering if there was a trick to rejuvinating a rubber O-ring ? Thanks, Phil
  9. Does anyone know where I can get a 2213 at a good price? Redlands curretlly out and will not have any for a few weeks? Any ideas? Thanks
  10. currently doing a bit of experiment with one of my tanks in a 4*1.5*1.5 i've got an eheim 2213 with altered media. instead of the original media i've pretty much filled the basket with bio balls and tubes. so no sponge in the filter apart from the piece dividing the two different bio carriers. Where the intake of the canister is i've used coarse sponge to block any debris from even entering the canister so that there won't be any debris built up in the canister. at the same time i'm running a 2000lph internal with sponges only to mechanically filter the water. theoretically the 2213 despite being a very low flow rate canister should still take care of the bio part of the filteration and the internal filter will do the mechanical part. the idea is that the bio filter should never ever need a clean as long as the sponge at the intake's cleaned daily to prevent blockage. then the internal can be cleaned as many times as i want even under tap water cuz i don't need it to carry any benefitial bacteria at all. wonder what you guys would think of this idea.
  11. Hi - I have just brought an Eheim Classic 2213 and I am having trouble understanding how to put it all together. Is anyone able to help? I understand that the tubing needs to be cut to size ect but I am confused about how the spray bar goes ... If anyone has one set up could they please post a couple of pictures?
  12. I was just wondering if someone could enlighten me on how much water pressure an Ehiem 2213 should have visually. The one we have running in our tank only pushes the water out 5 or so cm before it falls into the tank. After seeing the pressure coming out of the Aqua one CF-1200 today I'm not sure if our filter is working correctly. I do understand that they have different flow ratings, it just seems like a huge difference between the two. Thanks Regards Ryan
  13. ok so who has got a fluval 105? i have two eheims and was wondering what the fluval is like it will be used on a 100lt tank any advice welcomed
  14. G'day everyone I have recently bought a 2213 for my breeding pair of royal whiptails. I know they are a good filter but from the moment i plugged it in its being very noisy and collecting air The nice people at petwise rothwell (where i bought the filter) have been very helpful and even offered to set it up in store to try and sort it out, but its such a hassle to disconnect and i don't often have the time to get it there I've been over everything and the only thing i noticed is the 4 clips for the lid don't really hold it on tight. so when i turn it on the suction pulls it a bit tighter. Starting to drive me a bit crazy :gurn: Any advice would be welcome cheers jono Also i have a 2260 still in box and never used(no media) not sure about selling or holding onto it. I've seen them for $600 to $800 but don't know what i should hope to get for it on here? Any advice??? Thenks again
  15. Hi, I am setting up my new tank and It came with an eheim 2213. I am guessing that water goes from the tank, through the hose that connects to the TOP of the filter, then back into the tank via the BOTTOM of the filter? If this is right, is there any way that I can get the water cycle started? The filter has water in it but just sits there gurgling. Any help would be great, want to get this working tonight. Thanks!
