  6. Q.F.A.S. Caboolture Markets Show, Interclub Challenge Trophy and International Betta Show. 5th – 6th April 2014 Q.F.A.S. Caboolture Markets Show. The competition is a fish only competition in which only the fish will be judged. There will be no planted tanks or communities in the competition. Classes are as follows: Group 1 1 Australian & New Guinea Rainbows, Sunfish & Blue Eyes 2 Australian & New Guinea Gobies, Gudgeons 3 Australian & New Guinea Catfish & AOV Native 5 Goldfish single tail 6 Goldfish AOV 7 Amphibians, Invertebrates & Crustaceans 8 Marine Fish 9 Marine Invertebrates Group 2 10 Livebearers Guppies 11 Livebearers AOV 12 Anabantids (excluding Betta's)- all species 13 Tetras, Barbs, Danios & Rasboras 14 Loricariid Catfish 15 AOV Catfish 16 AOV Tropical Freshwater Group 3 17 African & Asian Cichlids 18 North & Central American Cichlids 19 South American Cichlids (excluding Discus) 20 Discus all varieties Note : Classes with less than 6 entries will be combined where possible Prizes and Awards Champion Group 1 Trophy and $150.00 Champion Group 2 Trophy and $150.00 Champion Group 3 Trophy and $150.00 Class Places 1st Certificate and $50.00 2nd Certificate and $30.00 3rd Certificate and $20.00 Entry Fee - $5.00 per entry. Competitors must supply own aquariums, heaters, and filters. Aquarium sizes acceptable are: 2 foot tanks - 600mm length x min 300 to max 450mm width x min 330 to max 380mm Height (min 24"x 12" x 13" up to max 24" x 18" x 15") 3 foot tanks - 900mm length x min 380 to max 450mm width x 450mm height (36" x 15" x 18" up to 36" x 18" x 18") maximum of 10 spaces available. 4 foot tanks - 1220mm length x 450mm width x 450mm height (48" x 18" x 18") max of 4 spaces available. If you wish to use either 3ft or 4ft tanks make sure you call ahead as there are limited numbers of spaces available and these will be handed out on a first come first served basis. NOTE: There are a small number of 2ft, 3ft and 4ft, tanks available for competitors to use, these will be made available on a first come basis. No free standing displays accepted. Maximum of three (3) competitive Entries per tank. You are allowed other fish in the tank to improve the display or to keep the entered fish from stressing. Fish to be judged MUST be nominated by competitor. No best in tank accepted. Nominated fish MUST be measured by the stewards before installing in tank otherwise a maximum of 15 points will be awarded for size irrespective of the size of the fish. Where permits are required for display of the species then copies of said permits must be given to the stewards before installation of entry. It is the responsibility of the competitor to provide supporting documentation to the stewards prior to installation of the entry. Where new/rare species are entered this is extremely important. All care is taken with entries, but Q.F.A.S. accepts no responsibility for any loss or damages incurred during the show. Time Table Tanks can be installed on Sunday 30th March from 1.30pm to 6.00pm. Entries to be installed on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th April between 6.00pm to 10.00pm. Hands out 10.00pm Friday 4th April. Judging will take place from Saturday 5th 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. (Only judges and stewards allowed during judging) BBQ dinner & Presentation of Trophies 6.00pm - 10.00pm Saturday 5th April - all competitors, judges and visitors welcome. Open to the public 6.00am - 1.00pm Sunday 6th April - Competitors and club members to man stands. All entries must be removed between 1.30pm and 6.00pm on Sunday 6th April Maximum of only 58 tank spaces available so get entries in early to avoid missing out. Interclub Challenge Trophy Clubs can participate in this by nominating up to 7 fish that their members have entered into the show. Nomination of fish to be done prior to Judging. At the end of Judging the total of each clubs best 5 entries will be used to determine the winner of the Challenge. The winner of the Trophy will be the club with the highest total. International Betta Show There will also be a International Betta Show held as a seperate show at the same time. This will have approx 260 entries.   7. Setup is all done just fish to go in on Thursday and Friday. There are 90 + entries in the show as well as approx 300 Betta in the Betta show of which about half are international entries. If you get a change to go to Caboolture Sunday morning not only will you get to see at International Betta show and a great Aquarium Fish competition, you will also be able to have a look around one of the largest markets in South East Queensland. Brian has farmed fish commercially in his homeland and worked here locally with one of the major players in the wholesale ornamental fish industry.
