  1. Just wondering if anyone has any adult electric blue acaras? Google images yields fish that still look like juvies, and I was just wondering what sort of colour and look they have when they are larger. Did a quick search on here but didn't see any, apologies in advance if this has been asked before. Also.. would one get along with 4 oscars 3 rivulatus 2 bocourti 1 brasiliensis 2 green severums, 1 massive banded leporinus and some plecos in an 8x2x2 with a 6x1.5x1.5 sump

  4. My breeding Pair of Acara's layed a few eggs the other night, 3 days later they were moving, then today they were swimming around with the parents. They were all in my 4 foot tank, but due to some other tank mates taking an interest in the bubs, ive moved them all to a temporary home, not much space, but safer for the little ones, and less stress for mum and dad
  5. Hi all. Ive got a breeding pair if Orange edge blue acara in an all american tank that keep laying. Only problem is the eggs either get snacked on or become wrigglers and suddenly disappear. My question is. Is there a way to scrape the eggs off the rock (without destroying them) and put them in a egg tumbler . Or is there another way to do this so I can produce some fry. Thanks in advance. Marcus
  6. hey all, i bought a breeding pair a little over a week ago. After watching them dance for a few days i discovered they have laid eggs on the side of a leaf of a palm tree ornament! This is the first time i have ever bred any fish i was just wondering if anyone has experiance with blue acaras and had any tips to ensure the survival of the fry? Should the parents be seperated away from the fry after a certain amount of time? Any help appreciated :)
  7. Hi I bought a pair of red fin acara's today and was wondering if anybody could give me some info. cheers.
  8. Ok, so my male terror has gotten a bit jiggy with my female blue acara. There is about 100 fry swimming at the moment they started swimming yesterday morning. How long before I can move them into another tank. They are in a community tank at the moment. Also do I have to move the male and the female or can I leave them in the community tank. I didnt plan for this to happen, but I think they will be a pretty cool looking fish. Is there a way to get them to stop breeding with out getting rid either of them? Thanks.
  9. Should set up a photo section 4" Green Severum 4" Blue Acara 2.5" Green Severum 3" Common Bristlenose Last but not least of course. Loving the recovery, he's going great guns and certainly isn't having any problems eating at all (he's a bloody pig). To give you an idea of what he was like when I picked him up, the second photo is a bad shot of him after being in my tank for an hour. Cheers guys.
  10. Just some photos for you. Eggs were down after I got home from a trip. Hope this is the right section! And... just for good measure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjpSHL0Q3Eo Will be interesting to see if they hatch, and what the fry will look like. They will not be distributed.
