  1. What do Forum members think of the cost and the value of using live bacteria additives like Seachem Stability, API Quickstart, Thrive Aquatics Bacteria Start ?? I have had to recycle a tank or two due to filter accidents; or putting in a new filter to run before removing an older filter for a good clean out and new media refill; anyway I often spend my money on these bacteria additives to "speed up" the recycling process especially if I have fish in the tank - but I don't know if really it makes much difference - still seems to take 3 weeks or so for ammonia readings to come down to zero. Are they worth the money? Do they make a difference to the recycling time period of 3 - 4 weeks?
  2. Earlier this year I put in another form of acan that was more or less bland colouration. Last time, I got them to go some wonderful colours in the same ways that i am using now with the use of iron and iodide additives and with my foods so they stay open nearly all the time as well adding colour to them. Along with my water quality, it is so nice to see something as basically basic colour take on three and sometimes five brighter colours in one acan type. I use all kinds of natural manipulations to get corals to fire up in colour and health due to my ordinary LEDs. This is it in April. This is it now. It works a treat!
  3. Hey guys, Will Purigen effect peat moss' (and ketapang) ability to lower pH? I know purigen removes the tea colour from the water caused by the tannins in peat moss and my understanding is that tannic acid is the reason peat moss lowers pH. Also what are it's effects on things like liquid amazon extract (that add humic acids etc)? Does it render them useless? Thanks, Beau.
  4. Are there any additives, I shuold look at mixing with the water, appart from declornitater when doing water changes? Regards Marc
