  1. Balloon molly fry are looking the same as "normal" molly when they are born: (Watch my one week old molly balloon fry: )
  2. Evening all, Just a quick question to see what you think of Balloon Mollies. I have about 10 in a tank at the moment and have managed to save 2 sets of fry. Been noticing the local pet stores no longer carrying the breed, or when they do the fish look terrible. Is it worth while trying to breed these for sale? or just enjoy them in my tank?
  3. So I visited this pet shop the other day and they had a heap of stock of painted ballon mollies with hearts and colourful lines. I googled them and found they inject dye into the fish and that its quite common for the fish to die or only live upto 3 months from the procedure. Is this true? and if so how can people get away with this?
  4. Personally I think it's fairly disgusting! I see it being very similar to teacup pigs and dogs. I don't see it as being a healthy mutation at all and think that the hobby is in a pretty sad state if these fish take off. Especially amongst the hard core keepers. Just my opinion guys but curious to see what you all think. Cheers, Sam
  5. Hi I am trying to find out how long balloon mollies live for. I have done some research via google and the websites differ from 1 year to 5 years. I have a tank with livebearers and the balloon mollies seem to be dying off (about 2 a week) and all the others (platy, swordtail) are doing fine. Any help provided would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  6. Hey guys, I recently read about the new craze in Singapore being balloon fish, one species I remembered was glossolepis incisus aka salmon red rainbow, these are now being sold in Australia too. Not too long ago you couldn't find them for under $70ea now look what they've done to them Cheers Stace
