  1. I have a female angelfish and her stomach is massive, she laid eggs about 12 days ago. She hasn't been eating for about maybe a week. I would have tried green peas if she was eating but cause she isn't i put her in a Epsom salt bath 1 table spoon in a gallon of water for half an hour last night, she didn't do a poo so I tried it again this morning and still nothing? The reason im worried about bloat is because hre stomach is normally round but this is taking it to another level. Do epsom salt bath normally take a few goes to get the poo moving? How long can you leave a fish in the bath?
  2. Hi everyone , How is going ? I have a dragon blood peacock about 15 cm. I suspect he has got the Malawi Bloat !! He hasnt been eating in the last 3 days and his stomach has been bloated. Never seen this big and round before. Every morning when i feed my fish, he is always the first one be there, but in the last 3 days, he will take the NLS pellets but then spits it out and not swallowing it anymore - All my fish have been on NLS Thera A+ , NLS Ultra reds, NLS Cichlids formula and NLS Discus formula all mixed together exclusively. The only thing i have done differently was, 3 days ago i got a small container of the NLS wafer for free so i broke it into little pieces and i fed them just for snacks and fun. I have attached the photos of when he was healthy and when he's now Bloated. Healthy BLoated Now i have put him into a bare tank 4Ft by himself and started treatment using waterlife sterazin - I dont think he will make it - he's stomach is getting bigger and bigger - i feel it will blow up one day. Please help. Your Sincerely Adam K

  4. Hi All, I have a number of tanks I use for display/breeding. Up until now I haven't had to many problems and have used Tetra Parasite Guard/Metronidazole. However, I need to buy some more and the price is ridiculous. It also has me thinking, if I had bloat in my 6ft/600L tank, what would you do to treat so much water? Anyone have a more cost effective, commercial way to treat for internal parasites etc? Thanks

  11. Hey guys, I've got a 8 - 10cm jag who I have noticed is looking rather plump. He's swimming around like a champ and is still trying to eat anything that floats by. I fed him some shelled peas and put some aqua salt in the water to see if I can encourage some bowel movement. What's the difference between bloat and constipation? Are the visual signs any different? I fed them some brine shrimp today and he pretty much smashed the lot so just thinking he could be a little clogged up. Thoughts?
  12. Hi all, I have now had 5 bembas die on me in the past 5 weeks. The tank had a long short textured plant in it which I thought could be the issue as they were eating it. So I removed it.. I also have anubias and java fern and another really large lefted plant. I had another Bemba die today... Grrr. I have been feeding them not much at all and I had never had issues with bloat before so I think its the plants that they are eatting and that's doing it. I would have thought that the plant that are in there would have been fine, what is everyone else's view? Thanks guys
  13. i have little fighter i have only had for a couple of weeks and now is on his side and floating he still eats , i fell bad that i might have to flush him, is there any thing we can do to help him or is there no hope
  14. Hey all. I just got a call from a friend worried that his large male BN has bloat. It apparently has a swollen stomach and a slightly protoruding anus and does not appear to be pooping. He called me asking for advice but bloat is something I have been fortunate enough to never have to deal with. Is this indeed bloat like I have guessed and if so is there any effective treatments? cheers, steve.
  15. ok so im faced with the same problem as 6months ago...one of my wc mobas has jus bit the dust...now everything was fine 2 days ago and wen i went in yesterday it had a swollen stomach was sitting on the bottom and was very pale jus bout dead...its anus was quite red with a little red stringy thing...which lead me to belive that it had worms or a internal parasite of some sort but they where wormed 3months ago??? i put it in hospital tank dosed with epsom salt and wormer and was dead by the morning??? last time i had this it took 2months of trying to get here back to health before she carked it...does this sound likely to be worms or a parasite??? now there is another that seems to be getting bloat like symptoms...should i be using metro or prazi?? if so wat rates are they again i forget any help appreciated jeremy
  16. Guys I have a shubunkin goldfish which has had a little extra bouyancy the last few weeks, if he stopped swimming he'd just float straight to the top of the water (quickly). No other strange behaviour, eating fine etc etc. I did some googling and I thought it was probably bloat. Fed him some peas last night as this was to aparently cure the constipation. Got up this morning and I find a free swimming goldfish like new. WTF? Does this sound right?? Has anyone else had something similar happen like this?? Im a skeptic, so Im expecting to get home this arvo to see a floating fosh again as I had written this guy off for a knock on the head. But Im hoping he's cured for good.
  17. I brought some tropheous of this site a week ago not in the best condition and it looks like they are getting bloat how do you treat for it or is it even worth treating if you get my meaning
  18. I was just wondering if it was possible for a Betta to get bloat ? (hoping it's not a stupid question) I've owned Betta's for years & have even bred them on 1 or 2 occassions & I've "NEVER" had any hassles with them. On doing a water change in my males tank I noticed how fat he is & I've never had a fat male Betta before, I'm not overfeeding him because the other 2 males get fed the same amount & they are fine. He is a little lazy but seems to swim around OK, if it is bloat how do I cure it. I plan on not feeding him for a day or 2 to see what happens, any other suggestions or info would be appreciated, thanks in advance, Jeff !!!

  20. Ok, just recieved 3 new BN. Put some Zuc in there on Sunday afternoon, took it out tonight. Untouched. But I did notice that one of the males appears to have developed bloat. So, how much Epsom Salts, do I complete a half tank water change etc etc. Don't have a test kit so cant do ammonia.

  25. over night ive noticed one of my flying foxes have gotten really fat & it's breathing really fast. Im guessing it's gonna die but Im not sure why. The only difference in the last week or so is ive fed them fresh grated carrot & zucchini once. All the other fish seem fine. I have another 3 foxes. Id like to think that it may be eggs but the heavy breathing has me worried. Im guessing death in the next 24hrs or so... Ive attached 2 pics - sorry about quality, was taken on my phone. You can see it better in the second pic. She seems to be swimming ok, & is hiding alot though...
