  1. Looking for a small canister filter for my 75 litre corner tank. Pretty happy with my Eheim 2213 that I use on another tank. Possibly overkill but this is the smallest Eheim make. The Fluval 106 is rated up to 100 litres, but a bit more expensive. Any other suggestions (preferably from the Techden?
  2. Hi Team, I went to put my trusty old Eheim canister back into service yesterday and found some of the o-rings cracked. Problem is, I can't find anywhere that sells Eheim parts as showing the filter taps fitting as needing three o-rings when you can see in these pic it clearly does. Only the two larger ones connect to the hoses, while the center one has a little o-ring as well. Any ideas team? I think the canister is a 2224, but what's the go? Thanks in advance, Andrew. -Fishtraderlau in Blackwater...
  3. I have an old eden 501 for a quarantine/hospital tank i have just fired up after several months left clean and dry but the o ring is cactus and am just checking if anyones knows of a supplier for parts for these or i try auto parts. They are a rectangular/Oval shape but a round one will probably fit. Any info appreciated.
  4. Hi everyone, i have a nautilus 800 canister filter on a 3 foot tank which has decided to stop working. It will prime and will run for a few minutes then it will lose its head of water and stop circulating water. I've cleaned everything and the empaller continues to work it just stops pushing the water through... anyone had had anything like this before or know what it will be?? It about 6 months old but I have no idea where the warranty might be and my cichlids have for the most part been without circulated water for two days (the air pump is still working so at least they have that 😓 Any my help would be much appreciated.
  5. Hey there Fish Friends, I have come across the petworx Canister filter online, just wanting to know if anyone has had any experience with this brand for filters yet? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advanced! Details of Filter are as follows. 1200Lph 3 stage filtration - All filter media included. Roughly $100
  6. I picked up a brand new aqua one cannister filter around 3 days ago last night when i opened up the cabneit i noticed water around the filter i soaked it up and this morning there was more. Upon inspection i noticed a small crack down the bottom of the canister. My question is what should i do? Water loss is minimal but i have a feeling jt will only get worse.
  7. Hello Fishionados - I have done some testing on flow rates on 2 of my canister filters and I am interested to see what results others get - I tested my new Sunsun (ProAqua, AquaPro, Gretch and some other names have been used) HW304b (rated at 2000 lph) and my used Aquaone Aquis 1250 Series II (rated at 1400 lph) - both units were tested empty (no baskets or media) and then with baskets and media loaded - the flow rates full or empty were pretty much the same - I also tried both options with different head heights (1.5 m and 0m which made minimal difference also) - the results I got were pretty much half of the rated LPH - to test I primed the filters and then timed how long it took to pump 5 litres into a bucket then divided 60 by the time it took to fill then multiplied that number by 5 then multiplied that by 60 to get the LPH - so on the Sunsun unit it took 17 seconds to fill to 5 litres: 60/17= 3.53 X 5 =17.6 (this is litres per minute) X 60 = 1058 LPH - I ran the test a few times on each filter to verify the results which kept coming back the same - the aquaone came in around 650 LPH - if anyone out there has some time and can test their canister filters and post back the results I am interested to see what comes up - I don't know how the manufacturers come up with these figures but I am wondering if they are calculated by adding water in and water out rates - if this is the case that rated LPH is about right - does anyone know if this is how it is measured? I have searched the internet for any info on how it is measured and could not find anything but I assumed that a filter running with nothing in it and zero head height should be pumping what it says on the box but I could be wrong Thanks in advance ; )
  8. How long can i keep a cycled canister filter running in a container of tank water (outside)and still use it in a new tank to speed up cycle.( If this is not practical i will clean media and do normal cycle )
  9. So I'm about to buy a used filter, and I'm considering getting either an aquavital avc 1000, or an Ehiem 2213. (They will both cost the same). I haven't seen too many reviews around the internet for the aquavital, buy Ehiem is a pretty reputable brand. Which filter would you guys recommend, and is there anything else that I should bear in mind? Thanks for your help
  10. Hi has anyone had a pro aqua 2200lph uv canister no : hw-304b if so are they any good?
  11. I am looking at setting up my 40cm cube as a marine tank. I bought this to make it into a planted tank but the wife has her heart set on having a nano reef. I have a small aquel 800 canister filter full of marine pure spheres and was thinking of removing the sponges and running it with the glass lily pipes and a hydor inline heater. There will also be as much live rock as i can fit while still looking good. Would this work, or would it still be a "NITRATE FACTORY"? I can't see this being any different to using Marine Pure in a sump and people seem to love using it in that type of situation.
  12. Hi, I have a bio-pro canister filter ( bought for me, not bought by me) about 6mths old, twice we have had a power interruption and both times when power back on water has poured out of top flooding lounge. When reassembled runs ok . Has any one else had this problem, and if so is there a way to fix it other than throwing filter away. appreciate any suggestions.
  13. Hi guys, I'm looking for a set of intake and output pipes that are black in colour and will fit 12/16mm hose. I've seen that aqua one offer intake/output pipes in smoky grey colour but I am after black. The only ones I've found so far are the ones on ebay for the sun sun canisters but was hoping there was another option? Thanks in advance, Beau.
  14. Hi All, I was wondering what everyone's thought is on how long beneficial bacteria can survive in a canister filter during power outage or a house move? What is the best way too keep it alive in these situations? All helpful advise would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

  17. .Hi people Need some quick advice to make sure I'm not making a bad choice :-D Just about to set up a 3x14"x2 that I've had for a while, it's an ex salt tank so had a weir in the corner that I have removed. So can I use that bottom drilled hole as the suction to run down to the eheim 2215? I have a bulkhead with strainer in the hole now just waiting to attach the canister, just wondering if there will be too much force gravity feeding down or if it will just create more flow. Might be a silly question but just thought I'd ask first. any advice would be appreciated Cheers ;-)
  18. I've just purchased an 1800lph bio pro canister from Aquaholics (great price, crazy fast delivery) but the hose isn't quite long enough, at least on one side, as I'd like to sit it off to one side of the tank. Is it possible to buy a replacement from Bunnings? If so, what size and spec should I be looking for? Would it matter if one side's hose was longer than the other?
