  10. Hi, I was just wanting to know if galvanised wire mesh is toxic to fish? - if not, can it be used as a tank divider? I realise plastic mesh would probably be much better - but plastic mesh doesn't seem like it would be rigid enough, and the groove that is there in the tank that I have (originally designed for a glass divider) is too thin to allow a sheet of egg crate to be put in. Cheers, h_tully
  11. Looking to get some tanks custom built, and don't really wanto to go through any of the petstores. Looking for suggestions for reliable builders or the best place/way to get these built. Looking for 4 x 4fts, 2 ft wide and 18-20 tall (with lids). Two of the tanks would be divided in 4, creating four 2x1 tanks Two of the tanks would be divided in 2, creating two 2x2 tanks. Thanks! Just collecting info at the moment, so I can price out what I'm planning. Also need someone who can make me two sumps, each to run 2 of those 4fts at a time.
  12. Anyone know where to get cheap perspex, or other cheap material for dividers. Cheers
  13. Hi all, I am just about to put some dividers in an 8' tank and was thinking about doing it to enable me to plumb it to a sump at some point in time. I was wondering what people thought would be best for waterflow etc. Initally I am just going to have sponge filters in each section but I want to make it so I can change if required without a lot of hassle. Could you please let me know which one (or something different) would be better. Thanks
  14. TANK DIVIDERS Here is a brief description of the dividers I put in my 6’x18”x18” tank. These must be made and fitted to tank while empty and dry. I made the dividers out of 6mm glass, two panels, one from the front and one from the back. Each panel has a slot (made from strips of glass), on the inner edge (FIG 1.). The panels are then siliconed into place opposite each other and left for at least 36 hrs before filling tank with water. Fig 1. I used gutter guard for the removable section and made the panels to suit. (fIG 2.) Fig 2, Plastic mesh can be removed if needed. Fig 3. Remember, only use “acetic cure” silicone, for aquariums.. Cheers George
