  4. Hi everyone, I purchased a green severum 6 days ago from petbarn. All the severums were tiny maybe just under the size of a 20 cent piece. I now have it in a 38G growout with some rainbow fish. (rainbows are bigger than severum) Is a planted tank with river sand and driftwood. Fitration is a hamburg matten filter utilizing poret foam. Severum is active but will not eat anything but frozen (thawed) bloodworms. I have tried flake, crushed hikari pellets (had to crush as he couldn't fit the small ones in mouth..but ultimately spat this out)..tried mashed peas, zucchini...it is getting frustrating that he wont eat...he seems healthy though for now, but I just want to know if anyone can suggest an alternative food I might try..I was going to look for some worms tommorrow..even though they are going to have to be very small..there is no way he will be able to eat a big one. This is my first south american fish and I want to ensure that I am doing all I can to raise a healthy fish. Thanks.

  11. I had put dad and eggs in separate tank, his third lot of eggs, previously had kicked out eggs. Probably my fault as was looking at him with a torch. Eggs hatched and all was okay. but had to put in some other pepps overnight while cleaning and changing gravel in big tank. fry still in there when others were taken out. a few days later couldnt see any fry at all. All gone. and no other fish to put blame on or any bodies in log. Guessing he has eaten them!!! Is this normal?
  12. I got a 12cm S.Leichardti a few days ago and he wont eat. I've tried bloodworms, aquamunch, hikari cichlid gold (already had these 3) beef hearts and now hikari carnisticks. He chewed on the carnistick but still spat it out. API TEST RESULTS: PH 7.2 - AMMONIA 0.25ppm - NITRITES 0 - NITRATES 0 (after a 30% water change) Temp 25C. Any ideas? He hasn't eaten at all in about 4 days. Any help on what the problem is would be much appreciated.

  17. I'm pretty sure I have fed my fish everything I can legally get hold of up until this point.. I spend much of my spare time and $$ driving from Lfs to Lfs searching and have shelves that resemble a store. I didn't have money to buy myself lunch today but the fish got lobster eggs;) Seriously ? Lobster eggs? Do they even want that?
  18. been a while since i've owned any Siamese fighter fish, but we picked up 4 pair sunday night at the auction, my brother and i bred ours several years ago and used the standard brine shrimp and blood worms, but i'm wondering about microworms and vinegar eels, i have a few cultures of both and use them to feed my other fry, but will the fighters eat them? and more importantly, can i use them to feed fry if we end up breeding any, can they be also used to condition the females, any advice will be great,
