Just Wunna give people a chance too look that don't realise there is a hybrid section, there posted there also.
  2. .Hey guys and gals I got 4 flowerhorns today and there's a pair of each f and m just wondering if I can put in the same tank with a divider like 1 male 1 female per side
  3. .This guy is more than capable of drawing blood but generally just "mouths" me.. Lol female tagged me good though, she wants to breed and is a bit stroppy...
  4. I'm really excited as finally I have some flowerhorns with real KOK potential! Don't even know what I'm gonna do with my life, it's almost like it's complete! Anyway, here are some pics! Those were pics before they were shipped, I tried to get some pics tonight but they were too stressed and Koks are way down.. They were sold to me as a super red and a KK. This is their father: Just want to show off really, but Angry if you wanna rate them go ahead haha!
  5. Just sharin a couple of pics of my flowerhorns, is selected these from a spawn as lil uns and thought they looked pretty cool....they are about 3 mths old now....enjoy:) Male Female Male

  8. getting frustrated. Lost a flowerhorn to the white stringy pooh not eating disease 6 months ago. Got a female now doing the same. Never had any other fish do this, never. have kept large americans, africans etc. I've treated with levamisole for worms, have metro ready to go next if its flagellates protozoa. But just getting really annoyed, and people say FH are hardy as due to being hybrids. Not what i see on other FH forums either, you'll always see heaps of threads on "my FH not eating white stringy pooh". Cant keep dishing out good $$ on nice fish just to have them kark it. Might go back to keeping GT's and JD's. You lose a fish you lose $5 not $100+ End of rant.
  9. Ok got some pics, not that great but you get the idea, any help on picking one is appreciated as i only want to keep one. Lighting is off as dividers dont fit yet so are in the tank sideways/diagonal and blocking light a bit for two of the three pics. Ok mr mean number one, in centre. Semi placid number two, far left and my fav. And Mr chilled/picked on, far right. Had them all together for half the day so number three got a little beat up. Will update as they grow In my four footer dived three times. What do you guys think??
  10. feeding flowerhorns, what's best for growth and maximising colour?
  11. hey guys, thought i would start a discussion seeing as though school holidays are now boring. what would you say is the best tank set up for a flowerhorn? what is the best rate to change water for growth? what is the best food? As in the time being now i am contemplating starting maybe a plywood or just glass build of a 3 x 2 x 2 holding around 90 gallons of water (the yanks seem to suggest thats best) my reason being in the dimensions, is i do not have much space to play around with so length is a problem. have a great DAY
  12. :whyme: Yesterday I went to view a tank that was for sale, the owner hadn't done a water change since February this year so decided to do one before i arrived. When i arrived all the fish in the tank were half way to death; most plecos were dead already, including a decent sized tiger pleco which broke my heart to scoop up. I was in shock... i instantly started interogating him as to how this could have happened, i still dont know the truth. the water was freezing and who knows what was contaminated before cleaning the tank. :worry: The man said he couldn't care less about the fish, so began the rescue; so i bucketed them up right away and took them home praying i could save some! :sweatdrop: The problem i have now is with the discolouration in their eyes, their eyes have all gone misty, does anyone know how/or why this happens? ive heard it could be the dirty water conditions Is there any advise anyone can give me??? I have 1 large pleco and 1 large bristlenose still struggling but not gone yet!!! Ive got milafix in the tank now and i have stocked up on some more cichlid gold too with the 6 new arrivals after a little research i think i am going down to the local produce to see what else they have that can help cause im scared they have worms/parasite or disease, as I put them straight in with my other healthy flowerhorn. I have since sanctioned him off to avoid him bullying/stressing the newbies. Any feedback would be very much appreciated!!! I feel so sorry for the fish and want to turn their fortune around :soppy:
