  1. Fluval FX4 yes yes yes!! - took Fluval to think of a Canister that you can also use as a gravel vac - can't wait for these to arrive in the next few months... Check out more details on our website and the videos - http://www.thetechden.com.au/Fluval_FX4_2650lph_for_aquarium_tanks_up_to_1000_l_p/pf152.htm Definite pricing to be confirmed, but if you are interested pop your email address in on the product page to be told when they hit the shelves.
  2. Ok guy's, well i have many fluval fx5's in service and currently just the 1 fluval fx6 + 1 brand new version still in box (after winning comp from AOA) : ) My fluval FX6 is nothing but a nightmare, its roughly 6months old and has been opened to clean / remove&replace purigen 3 times and everytime its been a drama, THIS TIME, the canister would not start, so i made a huge mess unplugging the beast to re check everything was OK filled back up plugged in and yep still NOT RUNNING I took it apart AGAIN, removed the motor/impeller to find it was clear of any grime & certainly did not have any gravel/media/sand or such in it, I then put it back together again, turned it on, and HOORAY it kicked into life BUT and its a big BUT, this bloody motor is working but now buzzing along.....noisy as all heck. thats my rant.
  3. Has anyone got any reviews or experience on the fluval vista aquarium tank kit in either 60L or 87L as a first timer display tank. Seems to be pretty tidy kit with all the basics (filter, led blue white LED's, heater etc). Would the LED's be good enough to sustain low light plants?
  4. I've read on the bag that you're supposed to rinse the Fluval Stratum before using but found that it made the water quite cloudy (water I'm rinsing it with). Made me wonder if I'm doing this wrong and losing alot of the nutrients/soil. Jumped online and found some people saying that you're not supposed to rinse at all... What are you experiences and opinions?

  6. Hi Everyone, I don't often post on here. But I wanted to know your thoughts on dividing a Fluval Edge 46L to home a pair of bettas. I want to know if you think the betta's would still be able to get an adequate amount of surface area through the top section if it was halved? I would be thinking of using plastic canvas mesh to divide the tank. As I have not seen the fluval edge in person I don't know whether this would even work. Thankyou for any advice you can give!
  7. We did a direct comparison between the Fluval Fresh and Plant 2.0 and the Fluval Aqualife Plant LED and the Fluval Fresh and Plant 2.0 comes out a easy winner and price wise it is perfect. When I did the Youtube I did have my phone on Auto and when I pressed the Fresh 2.0 to reduce the light my tricky phone decided to adjust the lighting on the phone and although it does not look like a big change it does make a big change in real life. For pricing and availability on the Fresh 2.0 here is a link to our web site. Lighting

  9. Hello all, I purchased a FX6 off eBay, long story short. The filter was very loud and kept turning off and on every 2 minutes, I got a full refund and got to keep the filter. I spoke to Fluval and they recommended replacing the motor. Has anyone experienced the same problem or know a place in Australia that sells a new motor for a good price? Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. What can I say, Fluval have done their homework on the new range of the Fresh and Plant LED lights. The previous Aqualife and Plant were great lights but they have set the mark and come forward with some great improvements. I have been waiting for these lights to hit Australia since I saw the release in the US market and I could not wait. Normally a new model will have a bit of new shine to an older model but they have gone to town. They only landed in Australia in the last couple of days and we are expecting our stock Tuesday - I am hoping for Monday. So what is the big deal? Well I will leave the most impressive for last but here is what they have done... They have improved the lumens with up to 50% on the previous and naturally this has a small effect on increasing the wattage - nothing major but there is an increase. They have gone to a nice neat soft touch control on the top of the light to give a better personal experience on lighting and making the most of their 5 unique LEDS with full spectrum exposure. You can still rely on the German Engineered light with 3 year warranty. The lights are IPX7 waterproof, splash em - no problem, even accidentally drop it in your tank and you will still be safe. On the two foot model they have not changed the 24"-36" but they have catered for what so many people were asking for on the 36" light. The old model was 36"-46" which was just short of fitting on a 4 foot tank and so many people would say to me "wouldn't it have been nice if it went to 48" and fitted on a 4 foot tank" Well they must have heard as the new model is 36" extendable to 48" and will now nicely fit on a 122cm 4 foot tank. Thanks Mr Fluval. Finally and as I am a gadget person they have added WiFi compatibility - but do not get too excited just yet - it is a "ADDITIONAL ACCESSORY (AVAILABLE SEPARATELY):" and eagerly await its release. Not only will it work on the Apple OS it will also work on the Android OS. If you get too excited and get two of the 2.0 lights - yes it will control two lights. Can't wait for these to rock in the door and just a couple more sleeps... Oh and if you thought that all these massive improvements would come with massive increase in price - your wrong...even with the Aussie dollar doing as poorly as it currently is... Big thumbs up from me....nice work Mr Fluval. For more information please visit the two links below to our website and remember - if your keen pop your email address in the top right hand side where it says "email me when in stock" so we can shoot you an email as soon as they are available and be one of the first to own the new Fluval Fresh and Plant 2.0 2 foot Fluval Fresh and Plant 2.0 Full Spectrum 46w LED 36"-48" 3 foot Fluval Fresh and Plant 2.0 Full Spectrum 46w LED 36"-48"
  11. Hi guys, i am am looking for some aftermarket hose to fit my fx5 filter. I am not a fan of the fluval hose as it is ribbed inside and collects a lot of gunk. i have plumbed 2 fx5s into the base of my 6x2x2 build and I am in need of a good flexible hose that doesn't kink to fit over 25mm hose tail barbs that I have on the bulkhead fittings in the Base of my tank. if anyone has some ideas or opinions I would love to hear them, thanks in advance! Chris

  13. As the title suggests, who has experience with both? I just purchased a 2x1x1 for a shell dweller pair and have purchased a Fluval U2 internal power filter. I could have brought a C3 hang on, but due to room I selected the U2. Which sort is better?
  14. Here are a couple of pics of the three lights on my 60X48X47cm Tank and the three lights used. The first picture is of the Kessil Light $319 The second picture is of the Fluval Aquatic and Plant $221 The third picture is of the Ista Cree $$145 The three technologies of each light with Kessil Dense Matrix (32watt), Fluval Multiple Led (25watt) and Ista Cree (14.7 watt) This will show the aesthetics of what each light will produce - unfortunately this does not take into account the spectrums/growth produced from each light.
  15. Anyone know who sells Fluval FX5 Lid Fasteners on the coast or north brisbane? In desperate need before the weekend so i can't order online!!
  16. I have two fluval fx6 I my 8ft. just recently shifted and had to cut the old bulkheads out and replace with new ones, problem being the new bulkheads are 20mm longer and kinks the pipes to the filter. short of the long can you buy straight taps for an fx6 or do you have to use the 85 degree ones supplied?
  17. .I brought a fluval 306 and I've been using it for a little bit now and it has been working pretty well until one day it just stopped working, i have no idea why it stopped the motor could be heard running but the water wasn't flowing, i took apart the filter and checked the pipes for blockages(they're fine) but haven't been able to pinpoint the problem, the primer is starting the prime but the flow isn't following though. regards
  18. .My new fluval nano aquarium. Have coir peat on the bottom with fluval plant substrate on top. Co2 is the basic fluval co2 set (would like better co2 setup back can't afford it). 22. Hi all, I saw a Aquavis 130 in store for the first time today and I was intrigued. I already have a fluval edge - and I love the look they are spectacular tanks - but they are small, and the lighting is not always great for high growth plants. This looked great - and I was wondering if anyone has one yet or could offer some feedback on it? Specifically I'd like to know what its like in terms of oxygen/heat diffusion - it doesnt have the grill/mesh top like the fluval does so heat diffusion and getting oxygen in there might be an issue? The one in store was not set up - i'd also like to know about water level for it - how full it can be filled and what the evaporation is like.
  23. Hi people I owned one of these afew years ago and am looking at buying another. When I had the last one the lid (which has a metal grate inclosed) rusted out. Has anyone who owns one of these had the same problem or found away to prevent this happening. Thanks. Mark
  24. Hi guys, I'm planning a Nano Planted setup, and this little package looks quite attractive to me: https://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/catalogue_products.php?prodID=6113&catID=115 I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with these little tanks. Seems good to me, but the thing im worried about is the "Rock background". I don't want a background at all on my planted nano tank, so is it removable? The internal filter could be a problem aswell, i might just get a small canister. How good is the mini c02 system? iv'e never used a c02 system before by the way... Opinions from Donny or Ben? Cheers
