  2. Hey guys just wondering how many people would like forum competitions back. Been talking to webmaster about it and am just awaiting replys from sponsors about prizes. If/when this happens I with anyone else's help (as I am in school and am getting a lot of homework)would be happy to run and moderate the competitions page and bring it back to its former glory. Cheers TheAquaHolic001

  4. Hey, what has happened to the QLDAF competition section? It looks like it hasn't been updated in ages?
  5. Hi, sorry if this is the wrong section, wasn't sure where to post where more members could see this, delete if not allowed. I am trying to get onto the ANGFA forum to read up and learn a lot more but am having trouble getting in, I have signed up, a did a while back, but never received any emails confirming anything, have tried to access the forum with my username and password and am told it's wrong so no idea what to do, who can I contact in regards to this? Cheers.

  7. QLDAF is moving...... We are moving the forum to a new server. The forum has had some slow times and caused dreaded chat-lag. Chatters have noticed and have been heard to say chat lags particularly around 10.00 pm. While that is past my bedtime, we need to address this. To combat this we are moving to a secure solid state server with monitored security. The expectation is this will give us 10x the current speeds. This will come at a cost, so we are declaring the move towards 10 Sponsors. That means there are 4 spots open. If you own a store, and are interested, or if you know a great store who is interested let them know that spots are available. We already have some applicants, but want to ensure that the correct choice is made to ensure that they are focused on our members, and also compliment the values and standard are existing sponsors have set. Applications are to be made confidentially to either myself or webmaster.... feel free to send a PM or give us a call. Please do not reply here. Please bear with us during the move.... hopefully we all survive to the other side.....
  8. I would just like to thank all forum members for putting in many generous lots. I hope many more of these auctions will continue in the future. Chris
  9. It is interesting to be on a QLD based forum. Go Team! I live on one of the Southern Morton Bay Islands. Big background in horticulture & construction. Had an oyster lease for my last 6 years of full time work. Best part of oyster's is they generally do not answer back. But pond plants are my true interest in this forum. Mossie larvae eating fish interest me as well. Maybe growing aquarium plants will get me thinking. Large Sea Horse looking island is ours.
  10. Hi,, just joined tonight but have been checking out the forum for a few weeks and it seems very informative. I have had marine fish for a few years but recently started a freshwater tank which is only for display purposes. Already I am having a snail problem from plants bought from a fish shop, but most of the ones I have visited all seem to have snails on their plants. I am checking out the plant section for some advice because I have not had freshwater for years and forgotten all the tricks.
  11. .Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that it is cheaper to buy stuff off Ebay from some of our sponsors than using the 10% forum discount

  14. Hi, I think fish are awesome, I keep brackish fish. I have two beautiful Periophthalmus Argentilineatus aka Barred Mudskippers, also have two archer fish. Here is a picture of my muddies. First picture is my boy. Second one is both of them. https://scontent-a-hkg.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/t1.0-9/p180x540/1491646_10202850811775503_760365636_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t1.0-9/p180x540/10301521_10204064095066827_2463779734881554963_n.jpg

  17. A lot of you have probably read this thread, http://www.qldaf.com/forums/forum-feedback-suggestions-43/harassing-member-110718/ There is a lot here that I agree with, and have dealt with myself in the past. But seriously 99.999999999999% of my experience on this forum has been awesome. I have never had drama with someone coming over to buy/trade fish, I have been able to see some amazing setups and I count among my best friends people that I met on this forum. But sometimes you meet someone on a forum that you clash with. And sometimes that person goes above and beyond what you expect to damage your life. I have been joking about a particular member trying to get me fired from my job for a while now, and I have just lol'd about it. But its starting to get a bit out of hand and personal. I really dont want to sound all emotional or dramatic as thats just not me. And I know that I can just walk away and this is over. But, I'd kinda rather not. I dont actually want to be bullied out of my job or off the forum. If I could get a little bit of help here. The way things should be - Review of The Age of Aquariums by Motagaz - ProductReview.com.au I would really appreciate it. An awkward thing for me to ask, but an awkward situation for me to be in. Not really looking forward to the boss seeing this post and following the link. Ah well, I have to clean 3 fluval fx5 filters today anyway...... wasnt expecting it to be an awesome day lol Any advice would be appreciated.
  18. In order to keep our members safe from cybercrime we are planing a backup and upgrade of the forum later this week. I know with every upgrade comes change and some people don't like change. However to ensure we have the safest platform this is a necessity. One of the biggest hurdles we will encounter along the way is with a pre installed software VBSEO. Since the last upgrade VBSEO had a big downturn and conflict within its company and it no longer exists. VBSEO was a piece of software that was installed on the forum (most likely when it was first built) it is responsible for all URL rewrites to make the site more friendly for Google. Turning off VBSEO is not as easy as flicking a switch or deleting a file but must be done as it is now considered a security risk. We may experience some or all the following * A temporary downtime on the site * Loss of some threads/posts * Loss of some/all private PM's * Deletion of some Accounts * Redirects of old threads to "error 404 page not exists" It is recommended that you take a copy of any information you require on the forum including important posts, PM's or contact details. we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause along the way
  19. Is there a similar Aquarium forum for hobbyists dealers etc that is NSW based at all?... Can anyone provide some links, something to help a hobbyist breeder in the central coast area
  20. Hi i found this forum while researching up on Betta Macrostoma. I currently have a young pair, hopefuly a male and female.
  21. Hi everyone, stumbled across this forum and thought I would join up. So to introduce myself. My name is Adam and I'm 21 years old and currently an apprentice electrician. I've been into fish tanks since a young age (though not always good at them). About 2- 2 1/2 years ago I was watching youtube vids about planted aquariums and I got hooked. At the time I was studying at uni and my big tanks were back at my parents house so i had to make do with a 40 Liter tank. Now that I am no longer studying I am playing around with my other tanks again Currently I have a 5x2x2 that I am starting to prep into a planted aquarium and away from the African tank that it currently is. I also have a 2 foot with cherry shrimp and a 1 foot with yellow cherry shrimp. I am hoping that this forum can give me lots of info on fish, plants and advice on all things aquarium related. Anyways, that's me in a nutshell and hope to start interacting with everyone soon. Regards Adam
