  3. Please ignore this group buy. The source is too expensive, for what you get. Will keep looking and will let everyone who might be interested know. Hi gang I have found a source of live Daphnia . Its $10 overnight shipping. I have made enquiries its $15 for a starter culture (teaspoon), $25 for a larger culture (tablespoon) and I am waiting to hear back on a larger order price. Anyone interested in going in and order, split the costs? PM me.
  4. Hey guys, setting up a new freshwater tank in my room over the next few days. I've got my heart set on a group of 6 danio. 3 red fun zebra and 3 regular zebra. And I was hoping to grab one or maybe a pair of something pea full but a bit bigger and maybe slower to help fill the tank out. The tank is 165 litres 2.8ft wide,1 deep and 2.4 high. So preferably something that will hang out mid/bottom tank and not spend the whole time under a rock. There will be one large, forked piece of timber with some plant cover around where it meets the surface, a few river stones and some grasses. I'll probably have pockets of tall this grass for the danio to dart around in. The tank will stay around 26 degrees Celsius and I'll have a bit of fast water moving through the tank for the danio. Is there any of the smaller fresh water shark breeds that a pair of would find my tank comfortable?I can see that possibly being a bad mix at some point though. thoughts? Any insight is helpful. cheers

  11. Goodmorning Guys, As you will see we have started a new section. As hobbyists we know that there are some brilliant fish in other states, and often we are keen to get them and will make a deal with a few of our mates. We want to give the opportunity for us to work together as a group to get great fish lines to breed in QLD. Hence the decision to launch a group buy section. Enjoy the new section. http://www.qldaf.com/forums/group-buys-176/welcome-group-buy-section-rules-98081/ Steve

  13. In discussions with many hobbyists we often have concerns about the quality and availability of certain species of fish. Often the situation is very different when we move to a different state. I would really like to see an effort by the forum this year to make a signficant change to the quality of fish avaiable. This is a big call, but I believe achievable if the forum as a whole decides. I am reminded many years ago a very small forum decided to address the quality of kribensis, by starting a project to share thoughts on quality, and also to swap livestock amongst members to increase the genetic diversityand guide selection and culling. The gent was Simon and the forum The Cichlid Tank that was focused on dwarf cichlids, before dwarfs become cool. I think with the number of members we have we could make a real difference to the hobby in terms of selecting fish in need of improved breeding, and where needed pulling together to make bringing fish from interstate more affordable to all members. I would like to hear things that we can do as a forum to make a significant difference in the coming year to the hobby as a whole. Steve
