  2. Hi Guys, Just wanted to share an image of my first BBS hatchery. Now just wait for 40 hrs for BBS! Any feedback appreciated. Thanks Hanho for the eggs! Cheers, Shane
  3. I saw awhile ago a post about how to make your own fry hatchery. I have searched and searched and cant find it again. Can anyone help me out and paste me the link?
  4. So for sometime now my partner and I have been playing with the idea of incorporating an aqua-ponics scheme that could work within our current hatchery setup. I love the concept that we end up with herbs and vegetables as a by-product of our fishkeeping. It has been a steep learning curve as most new ventures are. I am wrapped with results so far. We are experiencing great growth and massive increase of root mass. This week has been the first opportunity to sample some of the produce. They were some very powerful chillies. A wide shot of one of the aquaponic setups. Basil, lettuce and chillies Root mass being investigated by an Azureus male. Lettuce, perpetual spinach and silverbeet. Plant-lings growing on the Poret foam Basil growing on the Hamburg Matten Filter.
  5. As some of you are aware, there was a story on 60 minutes tonight about a fish hatchery in Noosa. Basically a nearby macadamia farm is spraying toxic pesticides that are drifting on to her property and many others. I don't work there, but I have met Gwen and bought natives off her way before all this mess started. Gwen despite all stuff that's happened to her hatchery still remains positive and I still call her every now and then. Many of her pets have died and all her outdoor pond fish have died also Just wondering about your guys thoughts on this. I'm totally appalled personally but that's just my opinion. Cheers, Cam
  6. Hep people got this idea off youtube diy brine shrimp hatchery, but alterd it slightly All you need is: 2x suction cups airline hose top half of a 2L soft drink bottle with the cap a bit of silicone Firstly cut a hole in the middle of one suction cup a little smaller then the diameter of the airline hose your using, place the suction cup in the soft drink Cap forcing it to sit nice and air tight (silicone can be used) then feed airline hose through the cap flush with the suction cup get the top of the 2L bottle and attach the second suction cup to the outside of the bottle so that it can be placed inside of the tank and sucked to the glass.... its costs virtually nothing, its quick and easy Pics if you don't understand or want to have a look (sorry bout the bad quality but just in case you cant see it that's a clear suction cap in the lid )
