  1. As an after thought late yesterday arvo decided to change the globes in my 5ft Jewel tank .Measured the old one and was 48 inches .So off to the closest lps and asked for 2 4ft globes . Getting back home went to install them and found they were 45 inches but are called 4ft globes. Lots more then went on around not accepting returns on globes even though it had never been taken out of the packaging .Finally got a store credit which expires in 3 months and they will call me if they find out if they have an account with Jewel but the freight insurance will be expensive . Now that I will have a wait would rather deal with 1 of the sponsors from here . So does any one know if any of the sponsors carry Jewel globes.

Anyhow I am guessing it's the ballast as the bulbs are/were all working fine. Does anyone have any knowledge of how to fix these or know where to purchase spare parts or even know how to test the ballast? Any info would be great. Thanks, Rob

  7. Hi all. A couple of us from the aandtsociety had a day off today and decided to have a snorkel. Little did I know that I was going to be apart of a horror movie. I was just going backwards and forwards from the bottom in around twenty eight feet of water in an area where I would normally find a sea horse or two on the sponges there, but instead I found a massive mantis shrimp digging for something (maybe a crab). I took a short film of it and before I could get ready to take a better one it came up at me as I had gotten a bit to close, so I swam up and it turned back so I got the blunt edge of the knife quickly under it to carefully coax it up to the shallows and it got one jab in through my glove before I let it go , which was fair enough considering what I was making it do. The second short film is of swimming with a mantis shrimp (that I assume is a rarity) as it tries for another spiking. http://s678.photobucket.com/albums/vv14 ... cs/mantis/
