  10. Hey I just came down Moorak St, Taringa and there was a corner spa on the footpath for council collection. It would make a good pond if anyone is looking for one. I would hurry though. https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/Moorak+St,+Taringa+QLD+4068/@-27.4905407,152.9791072,19z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x6b9150fa0f416fbf:0xd762fed16eab0b51?hl=en

  13. We have some super cheap prices top quality cichlid rocks/breeding wedges and bn logs and logs starting from $6.95 less your discount. To fill you in on the details we have been dealing with ZigZagFish caves and rocks for some time now and his designs were taken to China to be reproduced. As a business that heavily supports Australian Made we are doing a huge push to make sure we do not loose a Australian Business due to his designs being replicated. The person behind ZigZagFish has a fish hobbyist background and pottery is in the family and all came about over 5 years ago when he made some caves for himself and people then wanted what he was making and turned it into his own business and works full time doing it. He built it from the ground up. These are hand made BN logs now starting from $6.95 less your QLDAF discount. They are terracotta and fired at 1100 degrees which means you get a top quality long lasting product. Help get behind us on this as it is becoming more common to have Australian designs taken to China and we loose jobs and businesses. Here is a link to all the ZigZagFish Caves and Logs. ZigZagFish Breeding Logs and Caves We have over 300 more caves and rocks coming in another two weeks so if we run out - which will happen, they will not be too far off. Here is a couple of examples of his items.
  14. This one is a whopper for this species, the ones I find are usually smaller and when they shed, someone eats them being so little and slow. I usually like to have at least one in one of my tanks being that they clean up and look pretty while they do it! Oswald got my last one! I got this one late last year and it lives under a large purple morph at the front so I can see it “sort of” all of the time and shows its face out feeding only when I feed the tank, which is a lot, lol. My fav cleaner shrimp, I put seven in my top tank last year and they have sorted them selves out down to 3 and that’s been the case for 6 or 7 months now and just two weeks ago one turned adult female, finaly! It took ages for my youngsters to get a dominant female up and running. In the bottom tank I put in18 the other day and the clowns killed two, including the dominant female that came with that community and I think I can see quite a few behind the rock moving about, so it should be interesting how many run that tank when they sort them selves out. Egg laden and she is a cutie!

  19. I have told other reefers about this in the past but they don't realise its relevance and with the trendy named refuge, its never been more important. The caulerpa that is pictured and I mainly use is a form of racemosa and it has pretty much the same content of calcium carbonate as with all other caulerpa that I have used which are the most commonly available to reefers. Think about it guys, on one hand as a minor issue cal and all it needs to bind is being extracted from your waters for algae growth and the next more important issue is some of you have this growing above a porus substrate or over porous live rock, the caulerpa doesn’t just come like this in the pics, tiny segments die and all algae sheds to grow and some portions are bitten off and this is going on all of the time. Wherever you put algae you are adding a blocking substance that will seal up areas that needs a porus nature to remain functional. Also when with in low PH environments like in substrates and in live or base rock, precipitation can be quite intense along with orthophosphate ready now that PH is below 7.8 inside there to make it bind with something once again. If used correctly, this is not an issue, but for most reefers that use an average refuge, it’s not good! Freshly trimmed. This was on my shed roof in the weather for nearly 4 months. After that length of time its cal make up and more is still capable of holding up the weight of two twenty cent coins.
  20. These little extensions are what corals don’t just use to feed with, these can sting the hell out of the poor coral next door. I tried to get a pic when they were over 5 inches in length but as the camera got closer it pulled them back in.

  24. As above. You will have to be able do home maintenance on "mum and dad" fish tanks. Buy 500-1000 neons or other small tropicals from wholesaler @ 0.20 cents ea. Take these to tank you are regularly doing maintenance on and chuck em in.[At least a 5 footer.] The owner is delighted to pay 0.50 cents per fish to have in their tank. The owner pays for food, electricity, water etc at their cost and watches them grow. Once they are a suitable size you remove these fish and replace with a different species and the cycle starts again. Then you have 500-1000 neons to sell @ $2.00 each to lfs. All the growing and feeding costs are done for you. The prices i have quoted may not be correct but are used as examples. Is this better than winning lotto??
