  1. Gday people I was just wondering if anyone used different kinds of mechanical filtration instead of filter sponge to trap all the poo? Just wondering if anyone had some better system than cleaning sponge Every week Thanks for any input and happy new year Also interested in learning abit more about bead filters and were you can get them from thanks
  2. Hey guys, I have a submerged piece of 120mm x 240mm 5cm 10 PPI poret foam followed by a similar piece of 20 PPI. Water flows into a corner chamber and then sideways and down through the mechanical section then up and over onto the drip tray. In your opinion is the foam adequate for mechanical or should a piece of 30ppi be used as well, if so 2cm or 5cm? Lastly I use a single piece of floss as a preflter which is changed every second day as it blocks. thoughts? and thanks, plecosam
  3. We have the Aquael Turbo Filters, they have a section that you can put in the Macropore if you took out the rings. These use both Mechanical and Bio Filtration in one. Great if you do not have the room for canister but would like some bio filtration. Aquael Turbo Bio Mechanical Internal Filter
  4. so i think my eheim 2226 offers pretty avg mechanical filtration, i have to change the dacron every 2 weeks if i want my tank looking good. my mate has a bigger jebao filter on a 6x2x2 and cleans it nowhere near as often and his tank is always clear, i do 30% wc every week to no avail. other than the same jebao as my mates, what other filters offer exceptional mech filtration??? almost at my wits end, lol
