  1. I loved this discussion, because it really points out why we are in it for the hobby
  2. What do Forum members think of the cost and the value of using live bacteria additives like Seachem Stability, API Quickstart, Thrive Aquatics Bacteria Start ?? I have had to recycle a tank or two due to filter accidents; or putting in a new filter to run before removing an older filter for a good clean out and new media refill; anyway I often spend my money on these bacteria additives to "speed up" the recycling process especially if I have fish in the tank - but I don't know if really it makes much difference - still seems to take 3 weeks or so for ammonia readings to come down to zero. Are they worth the money? Do they make a difference to the recycling time period of 3 - 4 weeks?
  3. Just wondering who uses what for things like Pbass, saratogas and big Americans? My fish love hikari but looking at what else is around and and in what sizes, maybe 2 to 10kg Sent from my who cares using Tapatalk

  5. Well as the title says explains most of it. I think originally I started into fish as I had a coastal up bringing as a kid and always loved my fishing. 4 years of commercial fishing probably helped and shown how much of a passion I had for the ocean and what lived in it. Anyways back to topic.... I have totally planned out my fish room these days and can't wait for the changes. Some are in full swing ahead but this doesn't happen overnight. As plenty will know I love my africans but these days can't help myself with the passion for fish with personally which really draws me to americans. What I currently own and what I will in the near future. Americans: Festae Dovii Pbass (one day) Salvini (one day) Africans: Kapampa Frontosa Mpimbwe Frontosa (Very soon) Furcifer (katoto) Tricoti (one day) Electric Yellows Demasoni Crimson Tide (helps pay the bills) Catties: Pepps Commons My fish room is well underway for the huge tang racking but fry racking was priority first and both african and american racks are nearly complete. I would be happy as Larry if everything breeds BUT main thing is I can set back under my house on my lounge and drink a few coldies and watch my fish. I own some beautiful and stunning fish as it is and very proud of that but hoping to continue on my (one day) list. What do you breed for the love of fish ???????? Too many breed these days for them $$$$ signs. Hey, That's a bonus and as long as this hobby can pay for my fish room I'll be happy as end rant

  7. As above. You will have to be able do home maintenance on "mum and dad" fish tanks. Buy 500-1000 neons or other small tropicals from wholesaler @ 0.20 cents ea. Take these to tank you are regularly doing maintenance on and chuck em in.[At least a 5 footer.] The owner is delighted to pay 0.50 cents per fish to have in their tank. The owner pays for food, electricity, water etc at their cost and watches them grow. Once they are a suitable size you remove these fish and replace with a different species and the cycle starts again. Then you have 500-1000 neons to sell @ $2.00 each to lfs. All the growing and feeding costs are done for you. The prices i have quoted may not be correct but are used as examples. Is this better than winning lotto??
