keen to see everyones sump setups, ive never setup/ran a sump before and need ideas! every detail would be great. The sump will be for a 5x3x2.5 (Lwh) and it has 3 40mm holes drilled at the top of the tank, 2 slighty higher than the other one. The stocklist for the tank will be motoro ray pups and maybe a few other things untill they grow out then into the 8x4x2.5 when it gets built. I know rays need clean water. I have had one before. What size sump tank should i use? what size return pump? What brands are the best? What media does everyone use/like? looking at a shogun 500w heater for it, what does everyone think of these? Pictures would be good. Cheers !

Hi all, I have been planing a monster tank build for a while now, over last 6 mths i've collected most things to run the tank. Now I'm looking at starting to build the tank, side's base back and stand are all planned, just working on front glass design. So to my question, as an example, 5x5x2ft tank is recomended to be 10mm glass (2ft is height), according to glass calculator i got off here. This is same as a 5x2x2. If I build brace's to handle the loads (up the front of the tank) is a 15x5x2 going to need any thicker glass with 2 braces and 3 panes of 10mm glass at 5x2? I'm pretty sure i've worked out that the loads against the glass wont be increased by going wider-longer, aslong as height not increased.

Just one more tank lol mad'n'angry is building me a 10x3x2.5ft tank and that will be the largest tank in my fish room to date. The stand will be built by my mate Predator Rob and the cabinet will be built by my mate a.f.a and my missus will be the designer of the cabinet. It will have a 6x2x2ft sump and I'll do all the plumbing etc I have the easy life this time around thanks to the boys. I couldn't bare to sell the kapampa frontosa colony I had advertise which was sold to a mate. He understood and we sourced him Lloyd's WC Kapampa he had for sale. Tank is to be started in 2 weeks stand is to be built in 2 - 3 weeks I will share pics of the stand and tank and get the tank up and running with a canister and sponges to get the colony straight in once built and then will add the sump later on once it's available as I need to wait until some 8ft's are sold by Rob. The cabinet will be designed soon as well as the height of the stand is 1100mm high and it will have doors. The sump will slide in underneath the stand with plenty of room to access as the cabinet is gonna be open at the back. I'll share pics of all progress.

so i picked up this monster and thought id chuck up a small build. I'm wanting ideas as to what to put in it ?? I had an idea to leave the dividers in it and grow some plants and breed some fish but then i had another idea to take the dividers out and use it as a ray tank … any other ideas would be great.

Hey guys, so a friend of mine has an 8x2x2 he dosnt have room for and has asked if i can pick it up tomorrow i can have it otherwise hes gotta break it down (the missus law) so with the very little time i have i was wondering if anyone had previous experience shifting a bad boy like this ? are there any precautions i need to take ? so far the plan is race around to every nearby kennards and coates til i find at least 3 sets of suction cups (6 cups total) and 6 pretty strong blokes with a ute as transport... will this work or am i looking at failure ? i also own a trailer but it falls just short of 7ft however i think my mates ute has an extra long tray which should accommodate the 8ft. any advice is greatly appreciated thanks in advance Pondy. adventure time graff ftw !

Here's my Monster fish community which I decommissioned early this year. Too bad I only can have one big tank, or else I would still keep them There are several Full-tank shots from different stages of the tank.. The tank: The ex-fishes: Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri (Wild from the Guinea) Polypterus endlicheri congicus (Wild)

Looking for advice and ideas to filter a Monster Tank. Tank dimensions are 12 Ft L x 4 ft W x 800 H Been told either go four FX5 or 6x2x2 sump. If sump...... How many drains to sump and what size? What return pipe size? What pump size? What media? Advised by tank builder on a 6x2x2 sump with twin 40mm durso to sump and one 40mm return with 18000lph pump. Stock will eventually be 10+ adult bass monos. Any help/idea is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
