  1. I have a small (30 inch) tank in my bedroom. It gets some direct sunlight in the mornings ( from around 7.30 till 9.00 ) I have the choice it gets sunlight or I get Asthma - got to have the window open a little bit . But also the tank goes cloudy about 8am to 8 30am this clears by about 1pm at the latest . Obviously this is some kind of life form (the tank has no fish yet , but does have plants ) I was wondering what it could be . I do not think it is algae as it is grey to slightly brown not green . Actuall looks like an infusorian culture but not as dense .

  4. G'day G'day G'day School holidays in Victoria and I've decided to set up a fish tank for the kids and well mostly myself Mind you this is the first time I will be involved with this hobby, so am an absolute novice, and will have a lot of questions (sometimes silly) I will appreciate all advice from everyone The tank dimensions are 48"x14"x20" My filter should be arriving today- Aquaclear 110 (I think I would need to get a second filter, still deciding on what to choose) Then begins the cycling process, which I believe takes upto 2 months Eventually plan to stock the tank with fancy goldfish- so far I've narrowed it down to one black moor, one ranchu and an oranda- sized around 5cm each It will be a bare bottomed tank with live plants- hanging off driftwood or rocks- will I can dream cant I My first silly question What is an appropriate air pump to run a 120cm flexible air curtain Ive looked at airpumps online and they mostly talk about litres/ min and I'm not sure whats appropriate for my 220 L (perhaps 200L when stocked) tank Also some pumps come with more than one outlet- which leaves me confused as to what happens when I connect only one outlet. My set up will be air pump- tubing- check valve- tubing- flexible air curtain Appreciate your advice

  6. Just want say hello and it's great to be a part of this community. I jumped straight into the traders' section (too eager to start my collection from nothing, lol it's been awhile) and haven't introduced myself yet so here it is. My name is Howievn and I've been a fish fan of aquariums for a number of years now. I have a 4/2/2.5ft tank with a new jardini about 25cm and is tank mates with clown loaches (8-10cm) and guppies, lol. Seems to be going great so far although there was an altercation on the fist day I introduced the jardini to the tank. She took a bite at one of the smaller loaches but I quickly tap the glass pane which made her spit the loach out. Since then she has not really taken notice of them or the guppies. Mind you they do swim about sometimes without any problems and hide amongst the rocks and plants when not feeding or swimming. The tank is looking good and the fishes have settled in although I would like to expand my collection of fishes to include a Asian arowana, archers, tinfoil barbs, silver dollars (or their relatives) and maybe others. ATM I have a 4ft tank in use and a 8ft on the dry docks. I plan on getting more tanks (a 6ft and maybe another 4ft) whenever the opportunity arises, beside I have two fishes that's a must. The jardini (which I have now) and an Asian arowana which I am still searching for. The rest will be tank buddies to them (lucky we have solar panels installed, lol). Can anyone can assist me with finding an Asian arowana? not the south American arowana. Well again, I am stoked to be a part of this community and share the love. I hope you'll kind to this newbe.
