  1. Looks like another great store is closing down. R&J Aquatics in Lismore is closing today at 5.00 pm. If you are in the area duck in and grab some bargains and help them out. Address is 91 Magellan St Lismore. John and Rheia ran a fantastic store and were pure hobbyists, running a rescue service for fish from there store. They walked the walk in terms of the ethic of fish keeping, and are always happy to advise the new hobbyist or the experienced. We certainly wish them the best as John, Rheia and the kids work towards the next steps in life. Give them a hug from QLDAF.
  2. Iv just recently changed to nsw I go to Wellington pt just before high tide but the water is always yellowish! Is it fine to use and will it clear up in my tank
  3. Hello all. My name is Megan. i've been into keeping and breeding fish for 10 years. 1/4 of my house was dedicated to my hobby, with tanks ranging in size from 6x2x2 to 1x1x1. i have kept a few different fish in my time... oscars, silver dollars, silver sucking catfish, glass catfish, royal whiptail catfish, long nose whiptail catfish, farlowella catfish, blind fish, yoyo loach, ocellated catfish ... and was able to breed a few too, purple spotted gudgeons, corys (a few different sp.), bristle nose (common and peppermint), kuli loaches and of course cherry shrimp.. and probably a few others too unfortunately a few years back i was forced to sell up everything except for a couple of tanks, but now that the divorce is finalized and i'm settling into my new life nicely, i reeeeally want to get back into fish. For the past year I've had my 4x2x2 tank set up with some breeding sword tails and a few plants. But its just not enough! i want to get back into bristle nose and purple spotted gudgeons and corys and and... well pretty much everything i had before i also want to plant out my tank with a lot more then just a few bunches of val from the local pet store. ive still got a few empty tanks too that i will be refilling soon. look forward to chatting with you all Megz

  12. Is there a similar Aquarium forum for hobbyists dealers etc that is NSW based at all?... Can anyone provide some links, something to help a hobbyist breeder in the central coast area
  13. Such a great forum, probably the best certainly in Australia, active on all fronts not to mention all the fish that are traded between hobbyists, I am based near Port Macquarie and I was wondering how many ppl read this forum from my area? If you are based anywhere between say Kempsey and Forster pls post, hoping to get some idea of whether or not I can establish a bit of a network locally instead of having to venture North to get good fish all the time.
  14. Hey guys my partner is moving to Brisbane From Bendigo Vic around the 23/9/12 she has a 8x5 cage trailer that is approx ¾ full so we have a little room there as well as in the car, and are offering to help transport your items at a fair price, could fit a Engine or gearbox or multiple smaller items. I will be flying to Melbourne and travelling with her back to Brisbane I’ll be staying one night in Bendigo and the next morning will be leaving and be driving straight threw, only stopping for fuel so will be in Brisbane early hours the next morning approx 20 hours travel time can pick items up in some areas of Melbourne when I fly in. Together we have good experience and knowledge of car parts, Snakes (have current reptile license)and Fish (ill be bringing some up for myself) we are happy to transport any of these items at a good price to help us cover cost of the trip. We will be looking to travel the coastal root but may detour if it’s worth our while to do so we would prefer items are dropped to her address in Bendigo and picked up from our home address in Brisbane, but can how ever make some other arrangements if the price is right or we are happy to pick something up along the root travelled no detours will be taken unless adequately compensated to do so, also we will not be waiting extended periods for someone to meet up. We are happy for you to pay when you pick your item/animal up from us but will do it a little cheaper if you pre pay we will not store your item for any extended time we would expect them to be picked up within a few days, if it’s a animal pickup will be the day of us reaching Brisbane we will text you to update expected arrival time but as was said it’s expected to be early hours the following morning from leaving Bendigo. I understand some people may be concerned with trusting a un known person with their item or animal I am happy for anyone to visit me at my home address and view my licence to verify who I am and where I live, If items are been dropped to Bendigo address we would prefer it to be a few days prior to this date so it can be loaded on the trailer when her other items are as well to help workout optimum loading. You can pm me your questions or for a faster response you are welcome to call me on 0432 712 253 Prefer cash however may barter

  17. Hi folks, I have been a regular reader of this forum for the last 3 years or so, have regularly read this forum and have found basically all the info I needed to help setup my 10 tank fish operation over the last few months, recently moved from Brisbane to NSW mid North coast and have recently been chewing my nails anxiously as I have realised just how cold it gets here in winter, sigh... no more back yard and verandah breeding setups for me. This is the most informative aquarium forum I have found, and as my first new batches of fry are reaching maturity I need to start looking for a forum that is more local for me, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a more NSW based forum, one thats as useful as this one, so far I have been using the petlink forum and find although it is handy if you have some fish to sell, it definately lacks in discussion forums. Would appreciate some suggestions, thanks

  22. This needs to be read and understood by all who are breeding ornamental fish species for the aquarium scene. At this stage it applies only to NSW, however if you read the details, it is liable to take effect in ALL States and Territories We will attempt to keep the members updated on further developments, but in the meantime if anyone has any more details please do likewise, it has implications for a great number of fish breeders and the whole of the aquarium scene in general. http://s1.zetaboards.com/PrestigeAquati ... 907/1/#new Cheers
