  5. This was my first attempt at getting some good photos of some of my fish. Was trying so hard to get a good one of my Fronts but they are camera shy They where taken with a Nikkon D700 and have not been edited apart from cropping. Cobalt blue Phenochilus Tanzania Rusty Taiwan Reef Sailfin Pleco
  6. Decided to take the little tank out yesterday and decorate it with some black gravel and aquatic plants for some fishy modelling. From a few hundred shots, I think these are the 2 better pics. & for some variety, here's a top view of my favourite ryukin. The plan is eventually use her to produce some '12 red' ryukins, the symmetrical red colouration pattern on the eye and fins is there, the red just needs to be more full Enjoy
  7. This is my 2' tank housing a pair of Keyhole Cichlids which I decided to adopt as my project. I can't remember ever seeing a nice big one in person so decided i'd grow one. The tank has a few dithers such as Neon and Glow-light Tetras, and a clean up crew of Adolph's Corydoras, Kuhli Loaches (two striped, one black) and a Peppermint Bristlenose. I'm only growing the fish out some at the moment before i'll set the tank more up for breeding, at the moment it's just to keep to fish happy and to look pretty in my room. Thanks for looking.
  8. Has honey blue eye broodstock and a gorgeous lily full of noosa river ornate rainbowfish and another nice water lily, the water lettuce has been taken out and destroyed being a noxious pest I keep large eastern and crimson spot rainbowfish in this one, they like to jump hence the mesh which is also to stop toads getting in

  12. through buying a Nikon camera i came across this site Assignments Dont have to own a Nikon or be amazing at photography, its open to any level. But if you join up you can access the 'assignments' section. They post up assignments for members to take on and submit pics based on their criteria then judge winners etc. I think they publish some peoples pics or you win prizes n things. Sounds very cool to me. We have some amazing photographers on our forum and there's also alot of people like me who are just learning etc so dont let the professional pics people post on the site put you off....theres plenty of beginners posting too!.......i know im likely to never win but it sounds fun so I'm in!........even just for inspiration.........its about fun and sharing and learning

  18. In view of the many questions I've received regarding my fish pics on the forum, I decided to put some pages over to fish photography on my web site. Although I've been a pro photographer in another life, shooting the usual crap such as weddings, portraits, corporate events and stock etc, my focus has been for a while now, on presenting my interpretations of what I see/feel, as opposed to simply "capturing a moment in time"...............ie I can do what I want instead of chasing the bucks. I have to say, that fish photography has become a real challenge in presenting it how I would like to, and I have not yet fully mastered the technique of isolating the fish from it's environment. In fact, it's the hardest photographic assignment that I've ever undertaken. Anyways, There's some info on this page as to how I am "getting there" that may help those who have DSLR's and would also like to achieve what I am still chasing. There'll be more pics to follow. THROUGH MY EYES kev

  20. Hi all, I'm new to this forum and thought I would contribute by sharing some pictures of my past and current setups. Note: Some members may have already seen these pictures. Hope you guys enjoyed the pictures. I will try to take a few snaps of my tanks now but they have been neglected through the winter months. Cheers, John
  21. As we are all aware the cameras in phones are getting better and better. Here is a couple that I took with my samsung ultra touch. slowly learning how to position it to get a decent shot without flashes showing on the glass.
  22. As most of you are aware about everyone's display tanks through Japse's extremely successful thread in this section, I thought it may be interesting and also usefull to the new guys in this industry to be able to get an inside view of some of the well setup guys fish rooms. This may help some of us get our feet pointed in the right direction when we setup our own lil fishroom. If you could also give us a quick rundown on what you have in your system eg, tank/tub sizes, sumped or air filtration, and stocking ( dont have to list your real expensive ones if you fear break ins) I would put a pic up of my tanks but I dont want to be at as I only have a couple tanks setup.
  23. Dear the powers that be, Myself and others would like to humbly request the addition of a fish photography sub-forum that primarily focuses on the technical aspect of Fish and Tank Photography, as well as providing a place for members to post photography of their fish and tanks for constructive criticism and advice. There are currently a small handful of us on these boards that are keen to discuss information and techniques regarding this subject, and I feel it would be a valuable asset to others who are keen to start out or learn how to use their photography equipment. That is all, japes.
