  1. Just wondering where people place there heaters I have a Shogun 400 watt set at 26 degrees in my 5 x 2 x 2 and while I've had my sump shut down I've only had a Otto 2000L/PH Internal and a 3000L/PH wave maker going in my 5 x 2 x 2 and have noticed that the temp has been sitting on 25 - 26 most of the time although the temperature hasn't been to bad overnight this week compared to the week before and was wondering is it better to have it in the tank heating 500 Litres or in the sump Heating 130 Litres which is 630 Litres all up going through the sump or how does it work
  2. So these are my tanks (excuse the 5fter, macropore to the rescue) And yes that is my hallway, kitchen and bathroom. Eight tanks in total, feel free to show me where yours are Few fishy pics, why not A snap shot of the tanks
  3. Just wondering where is the best place is to mount a sterilizer running 2 filters, pics will show how I am thinking of setting it up. Would have liked to not have hoses cross over at the back but I think the hoses will be long and bent to keep 1 filter and pipes on each side.
  4. I have a relatively small tank it's 150lt including the sump which i built in & runs along the back of the tank. The sump is divided into 3 parts, the outlet from the tank section, the refugum & the inlet pump back to the tank. In what section should I put the pump that connects to the chiller & then the pipe that sends the water back to the tank? Also does anyone know where I can get very small filter socks? They would need to fit through a hole that is approx 4cm because I'm finding all the rubbish from the tank is running straight into the refugium. Cheers
  5. Maybe a silly question but i just got a 300w heater for my tank and it just fits ( top of water to gravel) can i lay it on its side in take or on an angle or with that make problems?
  6. Hi I have just bought a Skimz SM 161 (drooollllll) and I have the predicament in that I want to place it in the first section of my sump in which the water level is about 90mm above that recommended by Skimz. My main reason for putting it in the overflow section is so it is the first port of call in regards to my filtration. I unfortunatly don't have the luxury of putting it on a stand to raise it out of the water. So the only other option I can see is to move it into my retun pump section as I can adjust the water level in here quite easily and enough to have the skimmer run efficiently. However in doing this the water will first be going through a refugium and mechanical (filter floss) filteraton. Alternatively I can drill some holes in the final divider to drop the water level right down, this is obviously undesirable to loose so much water volume. Has anyone got their skimmer in the return section of their sump or does anyone have an opinion on this matter? Any suggestions will be welcomed. Paul
  7. Just wondering peoples thoughts on where to put the heater in a system. Would it be best to keep it in the sump (Thats where mine is) ?? Or would i put it in one of the tanks ?? I'm running a 7500 litre pump so the water flows past the heater pretty quickly. Don't know if it has enough time to heat the water.
  8. Can any one tell me, Does my canister have to be under the tank, i'm setting up a new system and would like to place it on the bench beside the tank temporarily. Have just had a measure up and the water level in the tank will be bout 150-180mm higher than the canister "top". I had a look through the manual, but no info there. Will that work ?. Brendan
