  1. keen to see everyones sump setups, ive never setup/ran a sump before and need ideas! every detail would be great. The sump will be for a 5x3x2.5 (Lwh) and it has 3 40mm holes drilled at the top of the tank, 2 slighty higher than the other one. The stocklist for the tank will be motoro ray pups and maybe a few other things untill they grow out then into the 8x4x2.5 when it gets built. I know rays need clean water. I have had one before. What size sump tank should i use? what size return pump? What brands are the best? What media does everyone use/like? looking at a shogun 500w heater for it, what does everyone think of these? Pictures would be good. Cheers !
  2. My ray loves to eat earthworms which he can eat non stop. I usually get it in the tub from the pet shop. However, it is really hard to get hold on it. So, I went to Bunning and bought the wormfarm. The guy in Bunning say, it is ok to feed the ray/fish with these earthworm providing i do not feed the worms with acid food/meat or onion. Do you think it is safe to feed my ray with the worms from the wormfarm.?

  9. A couple of the pups that I have kept back pure motoros. This one is a 'triple spot' varient. This little girl is developing small spots between the larger spots, hopefully she keeps developing the 'super spot' colouration. Motoro X Mantilla he looks far more mantilla than motoro. 50/50 All future breeders. Ray on the left is the father of the first two pups. Any other ray keepers? especially ones with hybrids?

  24. I have 3 motoro rays and an arowana in a tank together with a few blood parrots and plecos. I did a water change over the weekend but at the same time, the arowana jumped out. I immediately put him back in, only his fins were damaged. He looks fine but he hasn't been eating since. I expected him not to eat for a while but its nearly a week now. Is there anything I can do? At the same time, he has attacked the motoro rays as they are fairly small still. He lived with larger ones before but they were taken out of the tank and new ones were put in. It appears that he has attacked two of them but they get too injured and are eating and appear to be ok. Is there anything that I can do to make them heal quickly? I have read around that adding salt will be the best bet but can anyone confirm? How much salt do I add? That tank is massive, over approx 1500 I would say.
  25. hey all, just want to see if anyone has keeped african with motoro ray before? or if its is ok for them to be together. thanks peter
