  1. Hi Guys, Ive been researching alot for good colour in a cichlid tank and compatibility for 55g/4feet/230l tank and this is what i came up with. if you could tell me what you think and if they will fight for any reason. 5 x Red Zebra 5 x Pseudotropheus Salousi 5 x Rusty Cichlid 5 x Cynotilapia Afra Cobwe [h=1][/h]My only worry is the Afra and Soulousi, they might be too similar and fight?. Ill be swapping males for females once the get older and can easily be sexed. The tank will have a 2200LP/H filter so no problems in overstocking Thanks Francois
  2. Last week I added some rocks from the garden, after several hours of making rock soup with them of course. I immediately noticed that a couple looked like they might have some rust going on. After a week however, the fish are all happy and water quality *seems* fine (full master test kit coming soon). Is this just a rock colouration or do I need to get it out, stat?
  3. This is my 2' tank housing a pair of Keyhole Cichlids which I decided to adopt as my project. I can't remember ever seeing a nice big one in person so decided i'd grow one. The tank has a few dithers such as Neon and Glow-light Tetras, and a clean up crew of Adolph's Corydoras, Kuhli Loaches (two striped, one black) and a Peppermint Bristlenose. I'm only growing the fish out some at the moment before i'll set the tank more up for breeding, at the moment it's just to keep to fish happy and to look pretty in my room. Thanks for looking.
  4. Hi Guys, I absolutely love these little mbuna !!! I have managed to get myself 3 adult males, and 6 adult female rusty cichlids (ioditropheos sprengerae) which I would love to breed. However, I am a first timer in the BREEDING DEPT. I asked on some local facebook forums about ratios and sizes but no one answered my post, so I thought I would try you guys. SETTING THE VISUAL The largest in the tank is actually a female, I would consider she is quite mature and has probably bred before along her journeys, she has been ripe since I got her a few months ago, which is what started this idea. From here, I have 3 males, one that is nearly her size, another smaller who is quite aggressive, and another, which I would think will stay a sub dominant, coz we always need one of those haha. I have 5 other females, all just of breeding size. I have acquired at least one other that has breed before, but I do not know which one it is now. So my questions..... How is my ratio? Should I be removing a male, have I got one too many? Is my female too big? She is bigger than the males in my tank. Does this cause a problem? Im thinking of removing all gravel ..... is this a good or bad idea??? I am looking for any tips, other successful breeders may have please. I know my waters fine, my filtration is good. I am in the midst of creating a number of good rock hiding places... And looking to breed these guys - I have put a couple of pics Your help would be greatly appreciated. .
