  1. Hey everybody just wanting some advice and hints on this move, i have a black shark that is roughly 20+ inches, i am moving house from Brendale to Brighton about 20 mins travel, i moved her 6 months ago but i had a fresh tank already set up for her to go right into so all i did is put her in a 100L tub and trailer-ed her there as it was 2 mins travel down the road, but this time i am keeping her in the same tank which is a 6x2x3 and its a lot longer of a trip and am unsure of the right way to go about the whole move, the options i have thought of for transporting the fish are: 1, getting a giant fish bag to put her in and place that in the 100L tub with some padding but not sure how long she will survive in a fish bag? 2, possibly using silicone to attach kids floaties to the inside of the 100L tub to limit the amount of bruising she gets from trying to jump? that way i can use a portable air pump for travel? the other issue is moving the tank, it is a 1000L tank so it has a hell of a lot of bracing and very thick glass so it weighs far too much was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to make the move easier? we had four people last time one on every corner but 2 of them were lacking arm strength and it almost didnt make it inside the house, any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks dan.

  5. I've always been keen on the smaller sharks(pelagic is just mean if you ask me or unless you are spankin rich and give them what they deserve..a baby ocean!)....so was wondering if anyone has had experience breeding the epaulettes, bamboos or hey even port jacksons(but imagine these guys require more room to be fair on them but damn that would be the ultimate )...I know it has and can be done in home set ups...I'd love to do a big rock pool tank(ideally something along the lines of a 12' long x 4' or 6' wide might suffice for a small breeding group of say 3 to 4 bamboos or epaulettes Im thinking!?!?!)..yes its a bit of a dream to be achieved but definitely not impossible and hopefully something I can aim at this year(nows the time to set them goals!)....I would love to hear if anyone has experiences with these guys ...breeding success & behaviour etc...
  6. I made this up quickly, so I hope my usual spelling mistakes are not to bad, I am off to the ocean! I will just chuck this in before meeting up for the boat trip to hit the drink. Aandtsociety web site, to show where very well informed reefers and an endless pool of oceanic knowledge exist. South East Queensland Marine Aquarium Society This is the first table at a club dinner sometime back, friendly bunch hey, lol. Inside one of our guys tanks. This is a pic from back in 2007 of sadly a dead leopard shark we found in a wonderful rock pool we visit from time to time. We got one of the guys to hold it up as if it was alive, shame it wasn’t alive, but what a cutie. I would say there would be no way you could hang onto a live leopard shark, lol. Here are two pics of friendly live ones, lol. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10201027671885207&set=a.10201027663885007.1073741828.1569796931&type=3&theater

  8. This is about a leopard shark that wants a pat, aawww, naahhh it just wants to be fed!. This regular 6 footer at one site is extremely friendly and when ever possible I give it a feed of what ever is around at the time, they absolutely love crayfish. Close up. Tolerating a pat for food.
  9. Hi all I have the chance to get a large (5 years old) black shark for nothing. Great looking and swims nicely I have NO knowledge on these guys and wanted to know if they mix it with Americans (all fish in my 10ft are bad boys and girls like red devil, Saratoga, festae, salvini, blackbelt, synspilum, etc...) Any ideas on compatability?
  10. So new to fish, I got told to google cool fish or look in photos and try find some out.. Fish that look awesome so far: Mpanga, Strawberry Aulonocara, Melanochromis Chipokae, Tropheus, Magunga, Chalinochromis bifrenatus, Christmas Fulu, Chisumulae Red tipped black shark. (I know its not a cichlid but **** I'd love one of these in the tank. I think theyd just be so cool to watch. Haven't looked at any compatibility yet? any suggestions? Thinking more towards a display tank (mostly males) so I don't mind having aggressive fish, just want to learn how to keep them properly as I don't have the tanks or room for breeding(yet) and really want an active tank. Btw my tank is a 4ft x2ft x 2ft.
  11. Hey all, My friend has referred me to this forum (used to have a 4ft african cichlid tank) and it is amazing. SO much good information, pictures and advice. So I've purchased a 4 x 2 x 2 ft ( I think i need to get a tape measure to be sure lol) tank and a 3ft tank for the sump below. It was a friends tank which he never used so I got it cheap and it needs some piping and more stuff for the sump but I do not totally understand that yet. I'll put some photos up tonight so hopefully you guys can maybe have a look and give me some advice. I basically want to set up a African Cichlid tank and am hoping to go buy everything (except the fish) this weekend and get it set up and running so it will be ready in a few weeks for the slow introduction of fish. I'm still deciding fish but ones I've come across so far I like are Mpunga, flameback, electric yellows, Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos. I really haven't looked to far and wide so the fish line up will change and I hope people feel free to recommend some cool fish. I also read some people have like a little Bala/rainbow shark in with these fish and that is something that sounds AWESOME to me even though I've read its not recommended but they do work. Yeah so any information or tips or suggestions are welcome. I'm going to put some photos up so I'd love some advice on the sump too. SOOOOO excited about getting fish, Its killing me looking at my empty tank. PS. How do I clean the tank i have now? I assume no Chemicals but its been sitting in my friends garage for a year or so and it wasn't cleaned out too well before it was put out of action and the good ole water wipe down isn't quite making it crystal clear. Anyway look forward to chatting James

  14. A shot of the large North Shore, Hawaii aquarium (ocean) ( before I got in the cage (tank)) Well worth the visit. There were numerous big Galapagos sharks up close and personal (You don't put your arms outside the cage). Weather was perfect as was visibility - as was snorkelling at Hanauma Bay on Ohau later in the trip. There were that many beautiful fish we saw while snorkelling that I would recommend this to any visitor. I have yet to see the underwater shots that were taken at North Shore. There were some massive Koi in the Ala Moana Shopping centre pools - Unfortunately between beachs and touring i didn't make time for the Honololu aquarium.

  21. Hey all my mates Bala shark has done the jump once again getting bought between the bracing/ bits of glass your lids sit on. It has damaged it's self quite and nearly all the way down one side. I have suggested that he removes the fish and try and treat him in another tank, what is the best product to use. All that I currently have here is myxazin. Is it right to remove And treat or should we just treat the whole tank? Thank you
  22. I have no idea of what they are and want to find out incase it is something nasty growing in his skin or if it is going to harm him.
