  4. Ok people I have a 8x2 with 16 Burundi 12f 4m all 17-27cm. They have never breed or held, what could I do to help them get started? There in bore water with a ph 8.9 gh and kh is a pinch on the high side but still in range. The only other fish with them is 3 calvus, they are in a display tank in a high traffic area. They are feed once daily and iv tried prawns as treats. Normally do 40% water change weekly. Could there be to many in the 1 tank or over feeding them? The tank has a lot of hide holes n caves.

I figure if i keep an eye on the graphs, watch for the spike then test when it goes to 0. Questions: 1. Should I cycle my lights while I am cycling? If i don't have plants do i need to do this? 2. Should I go to the LFS and just buy some cheap plants in pots to just sit in the tank? 3. Should i be aerating the water while cycling? The setup under the tank. Dirty as tank Non-swimming Prawns Decided on the 2 pieces of wood, probably not the best hardscape but yeah, i think it gives and interesting shape. The hollow log did darken a bit which was good to. Any ways sorry for the long post.

  10. Hi all. I am new here and I am just getting started with the wonderful world of fish. I have to tanks one is thriving with bristlenoses, guppies and swordtails, however the other tank I seem to be a bit worried about. I have tetras in there and a couple of bristlenoses, it seems to me that the tetras are not to happy and yesterday one of them died very sad. They are all swimming together towards the bottom of the tank and they seem to be pulsating ( if that doesnt make sense, it seems to me that when I watch them they seem to shutter in between), is there something wrong with them or am I just being a worry wart? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Simone

  12. Ok its all started the hot house has been pulled down. i have started digging the hole for the sump and overflow sump. i will be using 2 fridge liners for this. The new shed will have a polycarbinate roof, underwhich will run a maze of black poly pipe under this will be bubble rap then polystyrene lining than timber with holes cut in to act as lights through the day hours. The poly pipe will serve as heating thru winter. then under roof will have a by pass for summer so they don't over heat so with thr turn of a tapit will go under the roof not thru the roof. in the sump will be a bio tower to help with filtration. every tank will also have its own air driven filter so they can be shut down incase of disease. Hopefully the heat will stay in the room at night thru winter. The side walls are going to be roofing iron lined with polystyrene and a rubber seal around the door. All frame 25 mil gal bolted to 6 concrete post as was an old water tank stand. The sumps are going to be concreted around the outside. 2 things will be on standby a wall heater and lighting. The concrete florr will be covered in polystyrene and lino to stop cold seep thru the slab. Fingers crossed the water in the tanks will be stable thru the night wont know til it is going. By the way it will be drip controlled into the tanks as to not over heat. Any thoughs will be appreciated this room should hold approx 100 tanks
