It is illegal to raise mosquitoes in QLD (I'm unsure about the rest of Australia) and if your neighbours report you, there will be a fine involved.

Ahh but as long as it's not intentional and un controlled I couldn't see a problem. Iv got a creek and dam behind me on council lad that would produce more than my bucket of dw ever would,

Huh can't find any thing saying it's illegal just something they don't like and haven't thought about (shock horror the council not thinking). But if anyone finds anything more definite let me know

Wriggle factor is a big part of why live food is so good.

But even when dead its still very palatable to fish.

You can freeze you own,

Or if you are lucky enough to live somewhere without mozzies or are just time poor,

you can buy them frozen in most lfs that have ocean nutrition frozen.

They arent too expensive either, considering how much you get in a tray.

Lot of words to say the frozen stuff is not bad.

Not sure there are any tetra breeders on QLDAF, but these are a good condition food before trying to trigger a spawn.

Also really handy for skinny rams.

mozzies are good fish food, its just a shame we cant feed ALL of them to the fish once and for all.

Still can't find any info saying you can't collect the larvae for fish food. Just can't have a pigsty of a yard.

I said it is illegal to raise mosquitoes. Collecting is okay but if you are deliberately breeding them the fines are surprisingly high. They spend a lot of money on mosquito control after all. And neighbours will not be very happy either.

Like you pointed out, all I'm doing is soaking dw, and instead of tipping out the water in feeding them to the fish, no mosquito breeding going on here
