matt_a
.Looking to try something different in the new year and set up a planted tank (3x2.5x3) to use as a display/growout for future discus breeders. Will be kitting it out with CO2 injection and some high powered lighting, but not sure where to look to find info on plants, especially ones to use towards the rear of the tank to take advantage of the height. Any suggestions on what I should be looking into?
jc12
Vallisneria, large swords or perhaps lotus?

matt_a
Val is definitely on the list. How big can swords get? Something that gets up to 60 or 70cm tall would be cool. I know of a few plants that will continue to grow given the height, but they become quite stalky (for lack of a better word.)

jc12
Or maybe a moss wall background if you like the look.
matt_a
I'm thinking I will scour the mangroves for a nice piece of wood and get some moss growing on that. Perhaps a partial wall of giant val at the back and a couple of amazon swords in the back corner. I really suck at aquascaping so it will be interesting to see how it turns out.
