Allboutthebass
Hey. Thanks for the suggestions. I've lined up two green terrors for the tank. And I'm super excited for them. Can any one sex them for me please. The guy that owns them is unsure. I was hoping for a male and female. From allboutthebass

Lictoga
First pick looks to be male, unsure on the others. Is the smaller one a white saum?
Allboutthebass
Yeah I was thinking so. And he reckons it's a terror. Not sure. I'll try and get better picks off him. From allboutthebass
Lictoga
White saum is a green terror just has white on the edges of the fins as the others have gold. Also known as rivulatus. Someone may have more info on white saums I'm not sure how they came to be
Allboutthebass
Oh ok. Will they still breed with the other terrors? Or is that making hybrids? There a decent size, smallest is 12cm and the biggest is 15cm. What's the biggest they get? (Tried googling it. Couldn't find it). Lictoga
Not sure about crossing them, I know that white saums are hard to get at the moment. Size 15-20cm
Allboutthebass
Hmm ok. And that's a nice size. Well I'll keep googling I guess From allboutthebass
The Native Aussie Tank
3rd picture looks like a female to me, tail has no color, and the top fin isn't long.
none
Those photos are of three different fish - not two yeah...? Top males bottom female. True White Saum are hard to find. Lots of fish that look like White Saum throw Yellow fin edges. Females are near impossible to tell for sure as they have such a thin band. There are more than 2 varieties of Rivulatus - all will in-breed. Variety from New Mexico is very attractive. I hd them years ago - unsure if anyone kept the strain. Easy to breed and great parents. The pair will need their own tank though once they mate.
lgw
There are two species that go by the name of green terror. The Andinoacara Rivulatus ( gold and white saum ) and the Andinoacara Stalsbergi I've never seen or heard of the Stalsbergi being available over here though. Male rivulatus can grow up to ~30cm and females generally a fair bit smaller. They can be extremely aggressive (hence the name), however you do get some that will tolerate tank mates. lgw
Both the gold and white saum will interbreed and produce a mix of white and gold fry. From what I've heard, it is rare to find a pure white saum as most seem to either turn gold later on in life or be white with a gold trim. As for breeding them, it is doable in a 4x18 tank but if it were me I'd have a divider handy just in case.
Allboutthebass
Yep. The guy that I'm gonna buy them of. Has a jack damsey and a green Texas. Can anyone tell me what there like? And if they become to aggressive whilst breeding Should I just get different fish like a green terror and a Texas or damsey? But they've gotta be able to live with some blue eyed cichlids From allboutthebass
lgw
The above fish all get big and possibly aggressive. I'm not a fan of putting a heap of potentially big aggressive fish in a tank of that size. If it were me (which it isn't), I'd have one jack dempsey with your blue eyes
Allboutthebass
Yeah. Well I wanted a big aggressive fish. I don't have to put the blue eyes in with them. I really like the look of the terror and the Texas. But I haven't really looked at many damseys. From allboutthebass
lgw
This was my old guy, it's a 5x18x20 tank and he had 6 silver dollars in with him (not in pic). I tried breeding him and having other cichlid tank mates and he beat or killed them all. He was around 20-25cm
Allboutthebass
Wow what a good looking fish. I'd be happy with one. I was after a fish that has a big personality and is a little cranky. I would get a mangrove jack but no room for it. From allboutthebass
lgw
Not trying to put you off buying them, just letting you know the possibilities lol
Allboutthebass
Oh no. If I was unhappy with your response is say so. I'm thankful for your advice. The terrors (x3) are living with a Texas and jack damsey. So I would've thought they'd be ok with tank mates. And id rather not kill my blue eyes. So I'm thankful for the warning. lgw
No worries, you just never know with big americans. Sometimes theyre fine, other times they hit maturity and go on a rampage haha
Allboutthebass
Haha yeah. Well I'd rather get the advice now than too late down the track. I think I might go for a male. And leave the female. There only 15cm. So I'm not sure when they mature but I'm guessing the latest will be soon From allboutthebass
