Wild Aulonocara
. Best layout i could come up with given the space available to me. I think its a good plan for 9 square meters, I have never built a sumped system before, so please feel free to comment in case i have not thought of something. Black arrows indicate drainage flow. i will be running a tank outlet on the collection tank that drains outside just in case power fails.
Heintz.G
I'd be looking at least a 36watt UV for that many tanks, otherwise it looks good to me.
ado_84
dont for get you need room to run the plumbing.. center racks look hard up agianst each other and out rack as flush with your walls.

Wild Aulonocara
stage 3: which is located "south" i will be adding a second Evolution aqua pod along side the existing one in plan . unsure if two 18 watt UVs make up for a single 36 watt though. Wild Aulonocara
all plumbing will be done on front face of aquariums. its the easiest way to set this up in such a small area especially as i will be doing this in 3 stages. Craigo
my opinion only, ditch the UV. don't need it. 600 minus drain back piping = approx. 420mm of room, that's not fun.
Wild Aulonocara
Nexus easy pods have inbuilt UV. the space gives me enough room to side ways step down the alleys lol Edited December 16, 2014 by Wild Aulonocara
Donny@ageofaquariums
Dont get fat John! I remember when I could fit thru a 420mm gap lol
Craigo
me too, but yeah I should have stated Im not criticising by any means, just stating what I have seen in many rooms & my own. & I know that eventually being cramped runs thin & you soon become over it. Set it up for easiness so even in the months when you don't feel like keeping fish anymore servicing the filters or tanks or fish is easy & your not cracking the ****s over it. just saying
Donny@ageofaquariums
I remember spitting the dummy in my first fish room because the gap between the tank tops and the next level was soooooooooo small it made catching fish out really annoying. All fun and games until you need an order netted and packed......... and fastways is in the driveway beeping!
bellalouisarhydan
i dont know if it helps but i really like how these guys set their tanks up: Notice how each rack is stepped down? makes easy access to tanks on all levels.
Wild Aulonocara
Step system is a good set up.... not efficient with floor space tho.
Wild Aulonocara
i have made sure there is plenty of handling room over the tanks. i will be getting the first stage in and then before placing tanks on the second stage i will see how i go for room..... if it sucks, i will only put a 610mm wide rack instead of the 2 x 450mm racks in the center isle. Wild Aulonocara
ok... take 2, gained 50mm more walkway room, i can not bare to sacrifice 1000 liters to have more walk space than that lol Edited December 18, 2014 by Wild Aulonocara
Wild Aulonocara
Was told off for entering the lounge room... and blocking off the back door.... lol.... so went back to the drawing board. Going with Durso stand pipes through the aquarium base! now i have the full 650mm walkways! and figured out a better drainage system using 2 separate systems.
