lilviss
I wont to start a planted discus tank but ada amazonia buffers ph to 5.5-6.5 I want it at around 7 for discus, what are my other options?
Rod
In my opinion Discus (like other South American cichlids) are a soft water fish pH whilst easy to measure is somewhat irrelevant If keep in a heavily planted tank the pH will swing....particularly if you add co2 Plants take up co2 during the day and give it off o2 wihich reverses at night i.e. low pH in am and higher just before lights off In my experience with soft water fish....focus on the hardness of their water(add rainwater/RO water) don't focus on pH....and understand that chasing a constant pH isn't needed for fish health Water should have a low conductivity/TDS..... bluebelle
Totally agree with Rod, once your tank is established it will look after itself. No need to constantly worry about water parameters.
Discus_Duck
Agree, my setups over a year now and all I need to worry about is regular water changes.
