Waggles
Looking into my tank down on the gravel I can see a patch of Red Fuzz. Squinting and looking closer it is algae, growing like lawn. Should I be alarmed? Can I use Algaefix algaecide? Tank has Neon Tetras and Bristlenoses. Also tank does have large flourishing Blue Strichta and Wisteria. Maybe if I ignore it, it will go away. Heintz.G
Sounds like it might be a Nitrate problem, what's the Nitrate reading in the tank.

Aaaahhh good question, I have to buy a replacement kit. My local aquarium shop has been sold to new owners by Trevor and Wendy after 30+ years of business. So they stopped buying in a lot of replacement stock for the transition to new owners this week. Hopefully the shelves will fill up again. But given it is a nitrate problem - what then - water changes - scoop up the fuzz and chuck out?

Defiantly get a new test kit asap, in the meantime do like I do lots of little water changes and yes get as much of the algae out as you can.
