Daharkazangel
Ok, so Fb had a ad up saying 2 Oscars and 3ft tank $200.. (Only filtration, a internal, tank is 3x12x12 and fish are 25cm long but og so skinny......) I reply, I will save the Oscars and rehome (keeping one lol) For free and the OP said sure no worries. Go to pick up the Oscars, they are in the worst state ive ever seen Oscars in.... Like no joke. Scales missing, cloudy eyes, furry bodies.. you name it. Get them tubbed, strapped in to the back seat, guys asks about the $100... I state Im rescuing them as clearly stated by pm, and these fish are in such a poor state, $10 would be crazy. Offer to give them back, bloke gives them to me regardless. Cudos to him.... Vids and pics to follow. In a 4x18x18 QT tank for the first three weeks, then the boy has a home (free of charge, regardless of meds used) and im keeping the girl at this stage, taking me to 4 Oscars and a new 8ft tank.... I know. Cue pics and vids.

piraterides2020
Yeah amazing what clean water and food can do for a fish. People **** me off how the **** someone can walk past any animal in that state day in day out is beyond me. I get angry with people who are just ****ty humans. I think if he asked me for money I would of near dropped him or called the rspca on him and taken the fish. Great job dark one the force is with you!!! ORANGEMELLY
I'll ask my first question publicly because your answer might help someone else. This is not about oscars as such but it is about fish, and fish in a bad way. I have posted about this elsewhere on this site (save my flip) but you may be able to help. Several weeks ago I removed the light from my goldfish tank (5ft) 4 comets) to use on new set up for my mbuna. I had loads of alagae growing on rocks, driftwood and back glass as the goldfish loved sucking on it. When I removed the light the algae died (but this did not occur to me at the time) and now have 1 dead, 2 sick and 1 very sick with very bad tail and fin rot. Before my stupid boo boo with the light, the tank was being maintained religiously, water parameters were excellent (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and nitrates kept under 20.) fish were very healthy, always hungry, growing quickly and active. The algae die off was catastrophic and my fish are not responding to treatment. They are on bottom, two have clamped fins and finrot, the other looks stronger but is not after food and is on bottom too. I have tried rock salt (100% pure), melafix, wardleys fungas ade and mega gravel vac, daily water changes. I have also cleaned canister (with tank water) as this is where dead algae ended up. I am contemplating trying hydrogen peroxide (3%) on fin rot fishes fins as he does not have much left. Is there anything that you can suggest? I am sorry that this is long. They were my first fish and until this happened I had not had a single fish die. I researched diligently for months before I even purchased my first fish and so am really dissapointed that this has happened. It has been a learning experience.
