Mick64
I have a ista c02 pro with dual guage regulator, solenoid and bubble counter running into a ista reactor. Everything seems to be working Ok except the water in the bubble counter is evaporating. Is this normal, I have refilled twice in two weeks. Drops were 1bps. It is on a timer, and I noticed there is water in the c02 line when it shuts off, so I'm not sure if that is normal either. Help or suggestions welcome Mick
aquaholic99
Water evaporates into the CO2 as it passes through. You will have to continually top up the water or use a fluid that doesn't evaporate as fast like mineral oil or glycerine. (Both fairly harmless to you & fish). These liquids are more viscous though so you will get a different bubble count compared to water. The actual bubble count itself doesn't really matter as long as it is consistent, so you know how much CO2 gas is getting used.
Mick64
There must be a leak as it went below the outlet in a couple of days.
The Tech Den
I have to top mine up but it is not as often as your getting - on the timer I know the bubble rate is working properly so weather the water has evaporated or not it does not really bother me unless I want to change the bubble count. Mick64
Yeah once I get my C02 dialled in, I probably don't have to worry about it. But at the moment it is a bit of a pain to refill all the time.
Mick64
Should I have a check valve after the bubble counter and before the reactor?
