win
Do you measure Tds often? how much does it cost for a machine? What is average Tds for tap water , rain water, bottle water? My CRS, CBS eggs kept dropping off and I got no idea about my Tds in caloundra area. Is the shrimp soil is a must to put in for CRS,CBS or any gravel is ok? Thanks in advancce
BRISSY
I usually measure it before a water top up. A TDS metre costs $10-30 off ebay. Tank water TDS is usually below 10 but can be way above that. Tap water, depends on the area. Can be anywhere from 120-450+. Mine is 350 here at the moment, but I just use tank water (TDS 2-3) so it doesn't affect me. If your tap water has a high TDS then you can get an RO or RODI filtering system, which will bring the TDS to 0-10 depending on type/quality. You don't need shrimp soil but it is very handy. If you can't get shrimp soil, inert substrates are the next best thing. I got a spare TDS pen here, pm me and I'm sure I can work something out.
